Summary/Objective:

The CAD Technician is capable of working within a dynamic group to meet project goals and timelines. The person in this position must be well organized, detail oriented, and have the flexibility to handle multiple project assignments.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Essential Functions:

  1. Create 3D models using Solid Edge, AutoCAD and other CAD software.
  2. Develop detailed 2D drawings for manufacturing and assembly.
  3. Collaborate with various engineering divisions and other departments to ensure design intent is accurately interpreted and applied to models and drafts.
  4. Interpret customer specifications, manufacturing standards and other documents to create accurate 3D models and drawings.
  5. Ensure accuracy of drawings by utilizing best practices and following company standards
  6. Develop designs for complete seating structures and production programs
  7. Work through the engineering change process to release and revise models and drawings to production, purchasing and other departments.
  8. Utilize different software tools to enhance effectiveness and accuracy.
  9. Prepare drawings, bill of materials (BOMs), and other documentation as required
  10. Reviews and checks calculations, design models, drawings, and design documents for quality, accuracy, neatness, functionality as observed in finished product audits

Other Key Responsibilities

  1. Must be able to review customer prints and identify changes.
  2. Determine if any new parts are required to meet customer expectations.
  3. Work with customers to manage part proliferation
  4. Document and process all changes using Lippert change management processes.

Working Conditions:

  • Primarily working indoors, office environment.
  • May sit for several hours at a time.
  • Prolonged exposure to computer screens.
  • Repetitive use of hands to operate computers, printers, and copiers.

Qualifications:

  1. High school diploma and/or related associates degree in engineering or specific discipline and two years' experience; or
  2. Comprehensive computer skills and working knowledge of MS Office Suite.
  3. 3D part and assembly modeling (Solid Edge Preferred)
  4. Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Supervisory Responsibility:

This role does not have any supervisory responsibility upon hiring.

Physical Demands:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by a Team Member to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

While performing the duties of this job, the Team Member is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day. The Team Member may have to lift and/or move items over 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

This is a full-time hourly position. This position is located at Freedman by Lippert, in Chicago, IL.

Pay Range: $25 - $32 per hour

Freedman by Lippert determines pay based on several factors, including but not limited to the position being offered, education, skills, work experience, and other factors permitted by law. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range.

Preferred Education and Experience:

  1. Manufacturing/industry experience
  2. Experience working with multiple discipline projects
  3. 3D surfacing experience
  4. Experience using hand and power tools.
  5. Understanding of sheet metal design and manufacturing process knowledge
