Job Summary

The Technician III performs all job tasks with minimal supervision and should act as lead for other employees. Responsible for maintaining gas measurement, system safety, electronic and pneumatic control, and LNG/dehydration equipment. Creates and maintains AutoCAD drawings. PLC work to include Loading, Reading, Modifying and Troubleshooting programs. Capable of replacing and reprograming HMI's for computer controlled equipment. Works on medium voltage (up to 2400 V) equipment, performs measurement and maintenance work on cathodic protection equipment. Researches technical solutions to operational problems and makes recommendations to management and operating personnel.

Provides daily work direction as necessary to team members or co-workers while performing own job; should contribute to planning, work scheduling and minor decision-making regarding work methods. Should provide feedback on team member or co-worker performance to immediate supervisor. Suggests solutions to long term problems. Works with engineering to provide design reviews for new equipment/projects.

Job Responsibilities
  • Performs basic engineering-related tasks. Provides support to field operations which includes project design, equipment installation, on site testing, maintenance and repair of telemetry and electronic/pneumatic equipment.
  • Design, coordinate and or assist with any special electronic related measurement, control and pressure regulation projects for underground storage and the LNG Plant. Provide field engineering support. Develop procedures to ensure equipment is functionally tested when put in service. Provide assistance during functional training.
  • Development of new and innovative command control schemes to improve and/or replace existing systems.
  • Identifies needs and provides training for field employees.
  • Provide analysis, testing, design and review of equipment and systems for potential installation, which includes developing operating procedures and standards. Provide technical guidance to the Gas Storage engineers. Helps to evaluate new technologies and provide technical solutions to problems.
  • Advises management and operating personnel of recommended changes or upgrades of equipment and procedures that promote safety, efficiencies or increase accuracy of measurement and regulation facilities. Analyze existing control systems (communications reliability, cost reductions, service hours, obsolescence, required maintenance, etc).
Minimum Qualifications
  • 5 + years of basic PC skills, understanding of spreadsheets, word processing and internet browsers.
  • 5+ years of electronic measuring equipment and communication devices.
  • 5+ years of understanding engineering drawings/drafting standards and practices, formal presentations, vendor interaction.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Associates Degree Preferred (Field of study: Electrical Engineering Technology, Electronic Measurement and Control or related fields)

Pay Range Minimum: $36.99

Pay Range Maximum: $60.10

The pay range reflects the minimum and maximum for the position at the time of posting and may be modified in the future. The starting salary/pay within the pay range will be based on several factors, as applicable, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, shift, travel requirements, collective bargaining agreements, and business and organizational needs. At WEC Energy Group, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role.
