What will I do as a Unit Manager? The Unit Manager is responsible for 24-hour clinical leadership, supervision, and operational oversight of the assigned nursing unit (approximately 40-55 beds). This role ensures regulatory compliance, quality outcomes, efficient staffing, safe practices, and person-centered care in alignment with CMS guidelines, OHCQ expectations, facility policies, infection prevention standards, and current evidence-based nursing practice. The Unit Manager serves as a clinical leader, mentor, role model, and change agent, promoting a positive safety culture, interdisciplinary collaboration, QAPI involvement, and high standards of nursing practice that ensure each resident reaches their highest practicable level of functioning. What is required in this position? Graduate of accredited RN program - Bachelor's Degree preferred Active RN license with no disciplinary action - Maryland Board of Nursing Infection Prevention Certification preferred (CIC or equivalent) BLS Required / ACLS and IV Therapy Preferred Minimum 5 years of nursing experience, including 2+ years in supervisory/leadership role (LTC preferred) Required annual competencies: Conducts skill validation, coaching, and progressive discipline Identifies performance gaps & collaborates with Staff Development Promotes retention, teamwork, fairness & non-punitive culture QAPI & Quality Compliance Tracks unit trends (falls, UTIs, rehospitalizations, pressure injuries) Participates in RCA and PIP projects Conducts chart audits & reviews compliance with Orders, MARs, incident reports Communication & Resident Advocacy Provides SBAR communication to providers Collaborates with therapy, social work, dietary & pharmacy Recognizes family concerns & resolves issues proactively Behavioral / Dementia Care Implements non-pharmacological behavioral interventions Ensures staff uses validation, redirection & trauma-informed care Reports unsafe behaviors & protects resident dignity What makes Keswick unique?
