PURPOSE AND ROLE:


The role is responsible for supporting the refinery and renewable facilities with environmental field work for waste, water, and air sampling to meet Federal, State, and local regulations and permits. The role will do inspection and mitigation of physical controls with stormwater, hazardous waste, and spill response as needed. The technician will work closely with environmental professionals, operations, and maintenance departments in performing safely the assigned responsibilities. Work typically is 75% of the time outside in the facility.



JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:



  • Waste management tasks including inspection, sampling, tracking, generation of disposal profiles, and coordination of pickups
  • Quarterly and Project driven Stormwater Inspections
  • Water and Soil Sampling as needed
  • Spill Response cleanups and coordination onsite
  • Frac tank placement and oversite
  • Work integration with contractors and onsite coworkers
  • Maintain records with department per regulatory requirements
  • Remediation support for routine sampling and inspection, recovery system operations, and weekly inspections
  • Assist with implementation of all other regulatory requirements as needed



REQUIREMENTS:



  • Physical ability to work outside in all weather conditions
  • Physical ability to lift 40 lbs and
  • Ability to work with hand and power tools
  • Ability to drive a vehicle
  • Experience with 40-HR Hazwhooper preferred, but can be provided
  • Able to complete RCRA and DOT training


  • Preferred knowledge and experience in a manufacturing setting



EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:



  • Prior experience in refining or industrial work favorable
  • Education: This role is preferred to be a growth role for a new graduate with a technical science or engineering degree. Candidates without a bachelors degree, but relevant experience considered, but advancement to staff environmental professional roles limited
  • Must have a reasonable understanding of computers including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Internet functionality
  • Valid driver's license
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Must have good written and oral communication skills
