Main purpose of the job

This position leads our Purchasing team and processes to meet the needs of World Electric. The individual is responsible for developing and executing inventory strategy for procurement, demand forecasting, material movement, customer service and inventory effectiveness in alignment with organizational goals.

Key Accountabilities

Leadership and Strategy



  • Provide leadership and direction to the Purchasing Team to help World achieve our goals of continuous improvement of customer service, sales growth, GMROI, and operational efficiencies.
  • Develop a procurement and inventory management strategy with respect to business expansion in new geographies and product segments to align with existing strategies.
  • Engage with Sonepar and other Opco's as required to stay abreast of changes and best practices.
  • Provide clear and specific expectations to direct reports; set mutually agreed goals annually for each team member through an interactive process and align with the purchasing strategy.



Continuous Improvement/Process Implementation



  • Establish inventory metrics to support the strategy, measure/report metrics by branch, working with Quality, Sales and Operations Departments as needed for continuous improvement.


  • Ensure that purchasing goals, processes, and metrics are aligned with organizational expectations. Provide regular updates to track our progress and results.
  • Create and manage optimal inventory plans that align with the inventory strategy and reduce non-productive inventory in facilities.



Supplier Engagement

Engage with suppliers and stakeholders in purchasing related issues/opportunities that impact inventory levels, and inventory performance.

Education and/or Experience:



  • 3 - 5 years of purchasing and inventory management experience in distribution business preferred
  • 1-3 years of experience managing people required.
  • Bachelor's degree, or equivalent experience, required.



Requirements:



  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to present data for decision-making purposes.
  • Inquisitive and progressive - able to adapt and drive change.
  • Drives performance and results.
  • Demonstrated self-motivated organizational skills with the ability to efficiently manage multiple projects and tasks while building positive relationships with associates at all levels in all areas of the business.
  • Detail orientated strong analytical and investigation skills, being able to draw conclusions from research.
  • High proficiency with Microsoft Office products and ERP systems
  • Acts with integrity.
  • Ability to work productively with a great deal of independence and autonomy.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop strong collaborative relationships with Internal customers, external customers and vendor partners.
  • Travel to World locations, as needed.
