Position Summary

The Campus Emergency Mgmt Safety Specialist provides on campus to support daily operations and regulatory readiness for both the Campus Emergency Mgmt Safety Specialist teams in partnership with local leadership, the Emergency Manager and Safety Officer. Typical work includes conducting Fire Drills, N95 Super-user training, Evacuation Training, Rounding/Traces, Hazardous Material Spill Response Team coordination, inventory management, exercise/drill support, Documentation support for Emergency Management and Safety Committees and special projects.

Some evening, weekend and holiday work will be required.

Responsibilities

Support local CBU Emergency Management and Safety program staff to ensure regulatory requirements are met. This includes conducting fire drills, training, rounding and tracers.

Conduct Life Safety Rounding, Tracers and Inspections
Conduct Fire Drills (this will require evening and weekend work)
Collaborate with the facility Safety Officer, Emergency Manager and campus leaders in execution of daily work
Coordinate campus response to Hazardous Materials Spills
Support the campus in completing survey's and investigation from regulatory agencies
This position requires technical skills, organization, attention to detail, strong customer service skills, and discretion and confidentiality when dealing with sensitive and privileged information.
The nature of work may require travel and some non-standard work times to support CBU in evaluation of their local needs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in one of the following areas: emergency management, public administration, safety or related field
  • Completion of following FEMA courses: IS (Independent Study) 100, IS 200, ICS (Incident Command System) IS 700
  • Completion of OSHA 30 and HAZWOPER 40 within one year of hire.
  • Minimum two (2) years Emergency Management and/or Safety experience
  • Minimum one (1) years of relevant healthcare experience
  • Internal candidates not meeting minimum requirements may be considered

Pay and Benefit Expectations

We provide a comprehensive benefits package, including competitive salary, medical, dental and retirement benefits and paid time off. As required by various pay transparency laws, we share a competitive range of compensation for candidates hired into each position. The pay scale is $76,710.00 - $110,365.00 USD. However, pay is influenced by factors specific to applicants, including but not limited to: skill set, level of experience, and certification(s) and/or education. If this position is associated with a union contract, pay will be reflective of the appropriate step on the pay scale to which the applicant's years of experience align.
