The Marketing Automation Specialist is responsible for creating, managing, and optimizing email and SMS marketing campaigns to achieve business goals and drive academic program growth. This individual will report to the Sr. Manager of Marketing Operations and work collaboratively with the creative team to strategically develop content that aligns with the student journey and nurtures candidates from prospect to alumni. They will also support the partnership development team in nurturing B2B clients and their constituents through the partnership funnel. Beyond campaign development, this individual will utilize analytics, reporting, and testing tools to actively assess campaign efficacy and implement optimizations to improve performance. The Marketing Automation Specialist should be capable of providing channel-level strategic recommendations to campaign stakeholders at the onset or shortly after starting their position; this may include, but is not limited to, providing guidance on target audience, email deployment cadence, calls-to-action, and user experience.

This role requires a minimum of 2 years experience working directly in email marketing or marketing automation platforms such as Marketo (preferred), Hubspot, Salesforce Marketing Cloud or a similar platform, and a deep understanding of current email marketing best practices and compliance regulations. The ideal candidate will possess an understanding of HTML code, and have experience working in higher education.

Starting Salary: $68,000 annualized, Full-Time, Exempt.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

* Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, or a related field.

* 2+ years of experience in a marketing-focused role.

* Minimum of 2 year experience working directly in an email marketing or marketing automation platform such as Marketo, HubSpot, Salesforce Marketing Cloud or a similar platform.

* Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.

* Ability to interpret data and translate it into actionable insights.

* Strong ability to manage timelines and prioritize impactful work; Must be comfortable working in effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

* Ability to work collaboratively across teams; Excellent interpersonal skills.

SKILLS:

* Self-Starter: Highly motivated and enjoy taking initiative and beginning or navigating projects independently.

* Creative Skills: Ability to craft engaging email content, including the ability to write and edit email copy to improve performance.

* Technical Proficiency: Experience working directly in marketing automation tools (like HubSpot, Marketo, or Salesforce Marketo Cloud).

* Personalization Strategies: Knowledge of and ideas pertaining to email personalization and dynamic content strategies.

* Project Management: Excellent organizational and project management skills to oversee multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring they are completed on time.

* Cross-Functional Collaboration: Ability to work effectively with team members, outside vendors, and campaign stakeholders from other departments (like enrollment) to ensure campaigns are launched on time and meet expectations.

* Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills for clear messaging and reporting to stakeholders.

* Adaptability: Capacity to adapt to new technologies, changes in the marketplace, and shifting business priorities.

* Compliance and Best Practices: Knowledge of legal standards and best practices related to marketing, particularly in areas like data privacy and email regulations.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Campaign Management: Develop and execute end-to-end email marketing campaigns, from conceptualization to delivery and analysis.

* Content Development: Work with the Director of Content Strategy, program marketing managers, and others to craft compelling content that resonates with our audience, aligns with our brand voice, and catalyzes funnel conversions.

* Audience Segmentation: Build and segment campaign audience lists, ensuring accurate targeting.

* Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with other departments, such as enrollment and business development to ensure a cohesive and integrated approach to prospective student interactions.

* Compliance and Best Practices: Ensure all marketing operations activities comply with legal standards and best practices in data management and privacy.

* Testing, Data Analysis, and Reporting: Regularly conduct A/B tests and track campaign performance. Provide reports to senior management and make data-driven recommendations for optimization.

* Database Management: Monitor the health of our database, ensuring proper data collection practices are maintained and provide opportunities for personalization and audience segmentation. Monitor email deliverability rates to ensure we are maintaining a healthy sender score and reputation.

* Innovate: Stay up to date with industry trends and best practices in email marketing. Make recommendations for adoption of innovative strategies.

* Perform other related tasks, duties and responsibilities as required, assigned or directed.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:

Direct Reports: None.

Indirect Reports: None.

CONTACT RESPONSIBILITY:

Internal: Interacts with supervisor to receive general direction and instructions and/or review of work results. This position will work closely with colleagues in multiple departments (i.e. Academics, Admissions, Partnership Development, etc.) to define and implement joint awareness and demand generation.

External: Interacts with outside vendors, such as advertising, digital and PR agencies, marketing automation consultants, graphic designers, and copywriters to ensure the successful and accurate execution of promotional strategies.

PRIMARY WORK LOCATION, HOURS & TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:

Office Location: Remote.

Work Hours: Standard PT/PST office hours.

Travel: May require occasional travel to Alliant International University campus locations.
