ABOUT THE ROLE

The Payroll Assistant II's primary responsibility is to accurately compute, and record earnings owed to designated employees and perform relevant data entry.

Our company's Transmission and Distribution (T&D) division offers a comprehensive range of electrical services, including transmission, distribution, substation and clean energy construction. We are experienced in delivering reliable, high-quality infrastructure solutions to meet the growing demands of the power and utility industry.

Essential Functions

  • Review and enter timecards
  • Maintain accurate employee files and coordinate onboarding processes for bargaining-unit (union) employees to ensure compliance and smooth integration
  • Process unemployment claims
  • Prepare interim checks
  • Calculate, edit, and print payroll checks or facilitate electronic fund transfer
  • Prepare union reports and certified payrolls
  • Review reports and correct errors in a timely manner while communicating with employees and management
  • Calculate deductions such as income tax withholding, Social Security payments, insurance, and union dues
  • Immediately record changes to relevant payroll records, including withholdings
    Prepare accurate summary reports per pay period, as well as on a quarterly and annual basis
  • Regular and predictable attendance
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Essential functions of this position are to be performed in a Company-designated office or field location
  • Understand and comply with the Company's Code of Business Conduct and Ethics Policy and other industry-specific professional and ethical standards, if applicable

ABOUT YOU

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years of payroll operations experience is preferred
  • Experience with multi-state payrolls, garnishments and/or construction environment experience is preferred
  • High school diploma or GED is required

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • Ability to learn and utilize payroll entry & tracking software
  • Proficient with MS Office, specifically Word & Outlook, and Excel (formulas & standardizing data)
  • Ability to work with internet based programs
  • Detail-oriented with exceptional oral, written, and interpersonal capabilities
  • Effective, tactful communication skills with the ability to help employees at all levels concerning their pay and deductions
  • Ability to deal sensitively with confidential information
  • Ability to maintain focus and practice agility in prioritizing daily workload
  • Self-starter with a good attitude
