Fraud Specialist

M-F, full time

Bethpage, NY (hybrid)

Temp (4-6 months)

FlexStaff is seeking a Fraud Specialist for our client, a full-service banking institution, located in Bethpage, NY.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:



  • Independently review, examine, and resolve fraud and merchant dispute claims.
  • Monitor member activity and use fraud detection tools to identify and act on potential fraud, escalating emerging trends.
  • Contact members as needed to verify information and respond to escalations/complaints.
  • Maintain accurate case management systems and monitor fraud tool performance.
  • Provide essential support to branches, Contact Center representatives, and other internal fraud/risk teams.
  • Participate in risk initiatives and identify potential risk exposures.
  • Engage in ongoing training to stay ahead of fraud trends and mitigation strategies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.



QUALIFICATIONS:



  • Bachelor's Degree (preferred).
  • 1-2 years comparable experience in fraud, loss mitigation, financial crime, risk management, or financial services.
  • Solid understanding of banking practices, policies, and regulations.
  • Meets requirements for obtaining Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) and/or Certified Financial Crimes Investigator (CFCI) certifications.
  • Strong risk analysis skills.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and ability to analyze transaction monitoring rules.
  • Strong collaboration skills to work effectively across business units.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Professional presentation and demeanor.
  • Proven ability to multitask with a high degree of accuracy.
  • High level of self-direction and initiative.
