Position Overview
This role requires advanced clinical knowledge, sound judgment, and skilled nursing practice to deliver high-quality care to individuals and groups. The RN applies principles from biological, physical, behavioral, social, and nursing sciences to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care. Care is delivered using a patient- and family-centered model, ensuring culturally responsive and age-appropriate practice. The RN upholds the American Nursing Association code of ethics and adheres to the scope of practice defined by the applicable state Nurse Practice Act. This position is assigned to a cardiac medical stepdown unit that provides specialized care for patients recovering from vascular and electrophysiology procedures. The unit supports patients with acute myocardial infarction, cardiac arrhythmias, syncope, cardiomyopathy, heart failure, and other conditions requiring continuous cardiac monitoring. Nurses on this unit manage titration of multiple intravenous medications, support conscious sedation for cardioversion procedures, and complete advanced cardiac life support certification and ECG interpretation training. This environment is well suited for nurses interested in progressing toward an intensive care setting. Job Responsibilities
Deliver culturally sensitive and age-appropriate nursing care using the nursing process.
Monitor cardiac status and manage patients requiring telemetry and stepdown-level care.
Administer, titrate, and monitor multiple intravenous cardiac medications.
Support conscious sedation for cardioversion procedures in accordance with clinical guidelines.
Communicate effectively with patients, families, and interdisciplinary team members.
Maintain patient confidentiality and protect sensitive health information.
Demonstrate adaptability, professionalism, and adherence to ethical standards.
Participate in continuing education and maintain competencies relevant to the role.
Float to designated cardiac and stepdown units as assigned.
Job Requirements
Current RN license in good standing.
Minimum of 2 years of stepdown experience.
Proficiency with cardiac drip management, including but not limited to amiodarone, Lasix, Cardizem, dopamine, dobutamine, and milrinone.
Ability to interpret cardiac rhythms accurately.
Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in a culturally diverse environment.
Evidence of ongoing professional development.
ACLS certification.
Completion of ECG interpretation training.

Schedule: Night shifts (7 p.m.-7 a.m.) with every other weekend required.
Floating required to cardiovascular, cardiopulmonary, heart and vascular stepdown, comprehensive medicine stepdown, and cardiology telemetry stepdown units.
This assignment is structured as a 13-week contract.
