What You'll Do

As the Health and Safety Manager, you will supervise local implementation of safety compliance, company policies and programs related to safety systems, and sustainable development; and oversees or performs the work necessary to ensure adherence to safety regulations, safety training, and attainment of business values and objectives. You will be responsible for overseeing the daily management of the Health and Safety department. Other duties will include:

  • Oversees budget in respective areas.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable Dyno Nobel's SEQ Performance Standards, as well as applicable acts and regulations.
  • Develop, supervise, and coordinate Health and Safety training programs mandated by plant, company, corporate, and state or federal regulations.
  • Supervise the safety department to ensure the development, administration, and implementation of the training program at the Cheyenne, Wyoming plant.
  • Conduct various training program classes. Prepare course material and instruct classes on safety, equipment, and process hazards. Develop, conduct, and score periodic tests and final examinations.
  • Responsible for reviewing Health and Safety procedures. Oversee training of these materials.
  • Create relationships with operators, maintenance techs, and all site personnel.
  • Ensure all required reports are completed and submitted to government agencies as required.
  • Review new and existing safety regulations and advise company management in order to assure full compliance.
  • Evaluate surveys and recommend corrective actions to ensure safe and healthful working conditions throughout the plant.
  • Conduct and facilitate root cause analysis on safety events at the site.
  • Assist Engineering and Operations in planning for compliance with regulations in connection with new or modified operations (e.g., new plants or processes, formulation changes, turnarounds) in order to ensure compliance.
  • Conduct training for operating personnel in order to meet regulatory, safety, and business needs.
  • Create a strong partnership with the Environmental and PSM departments to ensure that all aspects of safety are working cohesively in assisting the business.
  • Participating in corporate-wide process safety networks to develop and update process safety-related requirements and procedures.
  • Will work routinely both in office and in the field with field with operators and maintenance.

What We're Looking For:

  • Bachelor's degree in Safety, Occupation Health, or related field preferred.

  • 5+ years' of experience with safety programs in the chemicals, manufacturing or similar industry preferred.

  • 3+ years' demonstrated experience in Process Safety Management and working knowledge of OSHA PSM requirement

  • Technical understanding of chemical manufacturing and processes.

  • Ability to interact and discuss issues with regulatory compliance officials.

  • Excellent knowledge of local, state, and federal regulations.

  • Positive attitude, friendly demeanor, and a team player
