Job Summary
As a Senior Aviation Maintenance Continuing Analysis and Surveillance Systems (CASS) Consultant in the Technical Operations Department, you will use your deep mechanical expertise to evaluate workmanship quality, assess safety events, and identify non-compliance issues across aircraft maintenance operations. In this role, you will provide accurate risk assessments and recommend improvements that drive safety and reliability. You will lead compliance efforts by analyzing human performance trends and ensuring adherence to federal regulations for aircraft maintenance and repair. Serving as a trusted subject matter expert to regulatory authorities, maintenance Teams, and Southwest Airlines Leadership, your work will strengthen operational integrity and enhance the safety of every flight, supporting our mission to connect people to what's important in their lives through safe, reliable air travel.

Responsibilities
- Provide expertise to ensure compliance in reporting human performance trends for overall aircraft maintenance and repairs with 14 CFR 121.373 Continuing Analysis and Surveillance Systems (CASS)
- Provide expertise to ensure compliance to 14 CFR Part 5 Safety Management System (SMS)
- Represent SWA CASS on industry committees, boards, and at conferences/symposiums
- Represent CASS with all Southwest Airlines operational work groups
- Provide expertise with Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) liaison involving Maintenance and Engineering including FAA correspondence and reports
- Manage safety and compliance topics to be presented at SWA CASS Board meetings and other internal or external meetings
- Maintain and ensure updates to the Maintenance Procedures Manual (MPM) in regards to CASS
- Assist other departments within maintenance to correct discrepancies on completed documents and provide feedback to the individuals involved
- Review, analyze, and report maintenance performance surveillance data which would improve the safety and compliance of Tech Ops
- Analyze procedures, work instruction, and performance standards for various Tech Ops Frontline and supporting personnel to perform system analysis and risk assess system deficiencies
- Assess and influence procedures, work instruction, and performance standards for various Tech Ops personnel and Tech Ops supporting personnel to perform system analysis and risk assess system deficiencies
- Attend industry committees, boards, and conferences/symposiums
- May perform other job duties as directed by Employee's Leaders
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Expert knowledge of Maintenance Procedures Manual, aircraft related documents and manuals, aircraft paperwork procedures such as log pages, and CFR 121 applicable FAA regulations
- Proficient in manufacturer maintenance requirements, FAA Regulations and Regulatory programs, and Airworthiness Limitations (AWLS)
- Proficient in using Microsoft products and windows based applications
- Expert ability to read and understand technical documents and their intent to meet the needs of the maintenance program
- Ability to effectively influence and present issues with solutions to audiences of all levels of leadership and employees
- Ability to work in a collaborate environment effectively manage discussions and conflicting viewpoints
- Ability to communicate in a flexible and effective manner
- Ability to identify the right people for the task and provide on-going communication to ensure strong Team collaboration
- Ability to manage multiple concurrent tasks with frequent interruptions, and adjust schedule based on changing priorities
- Ability to assume a high level of responsibility and to provide direction in a Team-oriented environment
Education
- Required: High School Diploma or GED
Experience
- Expert level experience, expansive and far reaching knowledge in:
- Transport category maintenance
- Quality/Safety and/or airline Compliance/Regulatory
Licensing/Certification
- Required: A&P Certificate
Physical Abilities
- Ability to perform work duties from [limited space work station/desk/office area] for extended periods of time
- Ability to use a computer with sufficient speed and accuracy to meet the demands of the job
- Ability to communicate and interact with others in the English language to meet the demands of the job
Other Qualifications
- Must maintain a well-groomed appearance per Company appearance standards as described in established guidelines
- Must be a U.S. citizen or have authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Must be able to comply with Company attendance standards as described in established guidelines
- Ability to properly manage highly sensitive and confidential information
- Must be able to travel with some overnight stays
