Summary Responsible for layout and design of digital assets and publications, including the Garland City Press, and other graphics for City departments, photography, copywriting and editing skills desired. Pay Range: $54,496 - $61,069 (Depending on qualifications and experience) Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Plan, analyze, and create visual solutions and design layouts for a variety of applications, including the Garland City Press, other publications, brochures, flyers, maps, forms, signage and digital applications. Ensure accuracy and consistency of all usage and applications of City logo and marketing artwork as provided in the Brand Standards Guide. Copywriting, editing and proofreading of publications and materials. Work collaboratively with departments and other partners to determine needs and objectives including ideas, designs, layouts and/or samples for departmental approval. Act as liaison to print companies and departments to place orders and reorders, resolve print problems, negotiate delivery dates, invoices, etc. Work across design platforms to create and modify content. Support web site content activities for department. Provide photography services; maintain digital files for use in print and digital platforms.
Minimum Qualifications
Preferred Qualifications Education/ Experience:
Bachelor's Degree in Graphic Design or related field of study 3 years' experience in graphic design for an agency, company or city municipality Fluency in Vietnamese a plus, written and spoken Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Comprehensive knowledge of computer graphic design for print and digital projects Comprehensive knowledge of artwork process, display set-ups, graphic art and related artistic techniques Skill in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Acrobat DC) Skill in computer software applications including Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, Word) Ability to design on PC Skill in photography and photo editing Ability to execute original art work including posters, brochures and signs Knowledge of typography, paginations and color for appealing marketing collateral Ability to draw and recreate, convert images to vector artwork
Licenses and Certifications
Physical Requirements / Work Environment The incumbent works in a typical office environment; relatively free from unpleasant environmental conditions or hazards. The incumbent must be able to hear and speak effectively to communicate by telephone and in person. Also, much have visual acuity to read documents and for use of personal computer; on occasion may be requested to lift up to 50 pounds.
