The Job Responsibilities

We are hiring a Director of Operations in our Andover, MA location.



The Director of Operationsmanages all Operations functions for the Andover site including Production, Logistics, and Production Support Engineering including Industrial & Manufacturing Engineering, Test Engineering and Production Quality Engineering.



Responsible for the development, implementation and overall effectiveness of the Sales & Operations Planning and Demand Management functions for the Patient Monitoring Business Unit. Also responsible for Master Data Management function.



For all of the above functions, develops strategies and technologies, drives Continuous Improvement and Operations Excellence initiatives and manages related projects. Working closely with R&D, oversees and supports New Product Introduction ensuring Design for Manufacturability and Testability and the installation of verified and validated production processes & equipment in compliance with legal and internal requirements within manufacturing functions.



Main Responsibilities:



  • Responsible for development, introduction and continuous improvement of the Operations strategy including Production, Production Engineering and Logistics in support of the overall Business Unit. Drives lean and continuous improvement through the successful implementation of lean programs and initiatives including TPS, value stream mapping, single piece flow, 5S, SPC, Kanban, Kaizen and visual management among others.
  • Oversee the management of direct and indirect labor resources in the production of all Patient Monitors, Pods, related products and spares parts for the Andover Production Site in support of the established marketing and production plans
  • Responsible for all Production Engineering functions and activities at the Production site, including Industrial, Manufacturing, Test and Production Quality Engineering. Ensures all production processes, tools and test systems are verified and validated to legal and internal requirements and operating at the highest possible efficiency. Provides design for manufacturability and testability requirements to R&D and ensures that these requirements are met before products are released for manufacturing.
  • As the US "Make" process owner, leads the Draeger Process Landscape implementation (Process Landscape Make) via the roll-out, support and harmonization of global processes and tools, measurement systems and metrics.
  • Oversee the management of all processes related to inventory control & warehouse operations, including: in-bound transportation, receiving, storage, material transactions, supplier Kanban replenishment, packaging, shipping and out-bound transportation of products. Responsible for Inventory Control, cycle counting and inventory accuracy. Monitors & reports associated inventory Key Performance Indicators.
  • Responsible for the development, implementation and ongoing effectiveness of the cross functional Sales & Operations Planning function including the Master Production Scheduling, Demand Planning, and Production Control functions. Ensures all key stakeholders are represented in the S&OP process and that all factors that have an impact on demand are considered in the development of the production plan.
  • Responsible for managing the Master Data Management (MDM) function and personnel, and the roll out and support of the MDM global strategy, roadmap and in their deployment in the organization. Increases the quality of the defined master data through continuous improvement initiatives and strives for cross-process efficiency in master data management. Establishes and provides expertise in master data management and master data modelling.

Your Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Operations Management, Engineering, or related field; Master's or MBA degree strongly preferred
  • 10+ years of operations experience in Lean continuous improvement manufacturing operations environments, including 5+ years in a management/leadership role required
  • 5+ years in the Medical Device or other regulated industry required, including strong knowledge of FDA GMP/QSR regulations, and ISO standards
  • Strong knowledge of Lean, Continuous Improvement and Operational Excellence methodologies required; multi-plant, multi-site experience involving regional & global partnerships strongly preferred
  • Prior track record of managing multi-site projects around continuous improvement, organizational development and change management preferred
  • Lean Certification (Green, Black Belt) strongly preferred
  • Ability to effectively communicate and present information to executive management



Compensation:


The targeted pay range for this position is typically between $154,000 - $188,000. We note that the base pay offered is based on market location and may vary further depending on individualized factors for job candidates, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. This position is eligible an annual bonus.
