The Cardiac Sono Supr Adult provides direction, education, and leadership. This position supervises technical staff in the ECHO Program, perform cardiac echocardiograms and teach Cardiology Fellows echo techniques.

The Cardiac Sono Supr Adult oversees care delivered safely to an age-specific population.

Licensure, Certification, or Registration Requirements for Hire:
Current Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) Certification Peds or Adult
Current BLS certification

Licensure, Certification, or Registration Requirements for continued employment:
Current RDCS Certification
Current BLS Certification

Experience REQUIRED:
Minimum of 2 years of Cardiac Sonography experience

Experience PREFERRED:
2 years of supervisory and quality control experience in specialty area
Previous clinical and technological experience in a teaching hospital setting

Education/training REQUIRED:
High School Diploma or GED and
Completion of Certification Training from an accredited Medical Sonographer Program or
Associates Degree in Cardiac Sonography

Education/training PREFERRED:
Bachelors of Science Degree in Diagnostic Cardiac Sonography or related course of study

Independent action(s) required:
Performs echo studies.
Assigns responsibilities to cardiac sonographer staff.
Works independently and organizes, plans and prioritizes workload in a complex, dynamic organization.

Supervisory responsibilities (if applicable):
Provides direct supervision of cardiac sonographers in carrying out assignments.
Responsible for performance evaluations and daily scheduling.

Additional position requirements:
Will generally work day shift, but may require flexibility for weekend work as necessary to meet the needs of the department.
Required frequent visibility on all shifts and weekends to enhance staff communication and monitor staff effectiveness.

Physical: Lifting 20-50 lbs.
Other: describe moving of patients on and off tables and stretchers. Transporting patients within the hospital environment. Pulling and pushing.
Activities: Prolonged standing, Prolonged sitting, Frequent bending, Walking (distance), Climbing (steps, ladder, other), Reaching (overhead, extensive, repetitive), Repetitive motion
Mental/Sensory: Strong recall, Reasoning, Problem solving, Hearing, Speak clearly, Write legibly, Reading, Logical thinking
Emotional: Fast pace environment, Able to handle multiple priorities, Frequent and intense customer interactions, Able to adapt to frequent change
