Job Summary

The Security Technician II is responsible for the installation, configuration, troubleshooting, and maintenance of commercial security systems, including access control, CCTV, intrusion systems, and low-voltage infrastructure. This hands-on field role involves running and terminating cabling, programming devices, and ensuring all work meets safety, quality, and technical standards. The technician will service and support a variety of platforms such as Genetec, Lenel, Software House, ProWatch, Revo, Axis, and Hanwha. This contract-to-hire position offers long-term career development and ongoing industry training.

Job Responsibilities




  • Install security systems, including cameras, card readers, and maglocks.



  • Install and troubleshoot access control components such as panels, readers, strikes, and maglocks.



  • Install and troubleshoot IP and analog cameras and Network Video Recorders (NVRs).



  • Support basic CCTV software setup on computers and mobile devices, including adding or removing cameras, setting recording schedules, and retrieving footage.



  • Support basic access control interface functions, including credential management, door schedules, and access level configuration.



  • Apply basic IP networking skills, including working with switches, routers, and port forwarding.



  • Install and terminate low-voltage cabling, including 22/4, 20/4, CAT5e, and CAT6.



  • Dress and route cabling from IT closets to device locations.



  • Build and maintain security equipment racks.



  • Install cable pathways, including J-hooks and D-rings.



  • Perform cable management, including dressing and labeling.



  • Use software tools for documentation and system management, including word processing, spreadsheets, databases, CCTV platforms, and access control systems.



  • Read and follow blueprints and installation drawings.



  • Communicate professionally with colleagues and management.



  • Follow safety guidelines and protocols, including proper PPE usage, jobsite cleanliness, and OSHA standards.




Job Requirements




  • High school diploma or GED.



  • 3+ years of commercial security installation experience.



  • 3+ years of access control installation experience.



  • 1+ years of experience with IP addressing and network troubleshooting.



  • Experience with security platforms such as Genetec, Lenel, Software House, ProWatch, Revo, Axis, and Hanwha.



  • Security manufacturer or product certifications preferred.



  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.



  • OSHA 10 certification preferred.



  • Scissor and boom lift certifications preferred.



  • Physical ability to work on ladders or lifts, perform tasks in confined spaces, lift up to 50 pounds and move up to 75 pounds, and remain on feet for entire shifts.



  • Possession of basic hand tools, steel or composite toe boots, gloves, and a tool pouch.




Education




  • High school diploma or GED required.
