SUMMARY: The Financial Analyst reports to the Dir of Pediatric Business Affairs. Under general supervision and within Hospital policies and procedures, provides support and consultation to the Department of Pediatrics in the areas of data retrieval, report generation, maintenance of statistics, and budgetary and financial analysis. The core Success Factors include: Instill Trust and Value Differences Patient and Community Focus and Collaborate RESPONSIBILITIES: Prepares financial, time and attendance, and quality data analyses for administrative and directors, physicians, and other hospital managers. Design and provide monthly operational reports for Pediatric Leadership (SVP/Directors/Practice Managers) to utilize in managing individual units and divisions to drive change and improve both quality and financial performance. Partners with team members to analyze work flows design and improve processes and leverage the technology available. Identifies and understand issues, problems and opportunities. Works with senior analyst, analyst II, stakeholders and appropriate management to select and implement a course of action or develop an appropriate solution. Serve as a consultant to pedatric leaders for analyzing data, trends and best practices for driving change management. ( From email) Maintain and regularly update contract reporting for providers and affiliated hospital partners Responsible for payment of departmental invoices and other payments as appropriate. Responsible for invoicing and preparation of supportive documentation related to contracted and grant services. Uses spreadsheets, relational databases, and other software which may require merging data from multiple sources, to enter, organize, and analyze data. Downloads information from a variety of sources to build and maintain databases for the department. Analyzes financial and statistical data used in reports to determine accuracy. Investigates and resolves discrepancies or variances as appropriate. Develops and prepares various standard and ad hoc reports for the department. Completes special analyses and projects as needed. Interprets, explains and clarifies financial and statistical data produced. Assists in develop of standard reports for ongoing customer service needs. Helps maintain data integrity in systems by running queries and analyzing data. Develop a standardized reporting structure for monthly variance reporting and assisting with interpreting staffing models and identify opportunities for improvement. In consideration of the purpose and audience, determines appropriate presentation format, develops and consolidates materials and information into graphs, charts, tables, PowerPoint slides, etc. Assists Director in the creation of annual revenue and expense budgets. Provides monthly budget vs. actual expense reports and analysis. Assist with budget development and business plan designs. Performs other duties as assigned. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: BASIC KNOWLEDGE: Bachelor 's degree in finance, business, health care administration, or related field. Strong understanding of health care finance and hospital financial systems. EXPERIENCE: Two years ' experience in a health care environment, with exposure to medical education and/or finance. Experience performing financial and quantitative analyses. Strong understanding of graduate medical education preferred. Proficiency in the use of microcomputers and a variety of spreadsheet and database applications, specifically Microsoft Office Word, Excel, PowerBi and Access. Knowledge and ability to download and merge information from a variety of sources. WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Work is performed in a typical office environment requiring extended periods of sitting. Visual acuity to view computer screen for long periods of time and finger dexterity to enter data on a computer keyboard. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY: None.
