The Department of Classification and Compensation coordinates the university's staff job classification process. We help establish new staff positions and reclassify existing ones. We also assist with compensation ranges and strategic job design.

The department of Classification and Compensation at Georgia State University seeks to hire an experienced Classification & Compensation Consultant to join our team.

WHAT WILL YOU DO:

This position serves as a strategic partner to Classification and Compensation, providing advanced-level consultation and support on complex human resources initiatives. This position's primary focus is to assist in process mapping and documentation for the staff salary structure and related compensation processes, while also delivering expert guidance on organizational changes, and other high-level projects.

KEY RESPONSIBILTIES:

Process Mapping 60%

  • Collaborate with Assistant Director to lead process-mapping efforts related to large-scale pay structure changes, including evaluating workflows, developing standard operating procedures, and recommending process improvements.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation of compensation processes to support internal unit and campus community.
  • Assist with implementation and communication of pay structure updates and related process changes.

Data Management 20%

* Perform regular audits to ensure data accuracy, consistency, and compliance.

* Identify data discrepancies and coordinate corrections with relevant departments.

* Analyze data trends to support workforce planning and decision-making.

Consultation & Advisory Services 10%

  • Provide advanced-level HR consultation on complex actions, including reorganizations, comprehensive classification reviews, and evaluations of minimum hiring standards.
  • Assist departments in evaluating organizational needs and developing structures that align with institutional priorities and strategic goals.
  • Interpret and apply HR policies, federal regulations, and best practices to ensure consistent and compliant decision-making.

Leadership & Strategic Support 10%

  • Advise Assistant Director on process improvements, offering data-driven insights and recommendations on sensitive or complex HR matters.
  • Support HR leadership with special projects, and strategic initiatives.

Qualifications :

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree and three years of related experience, or a combination of education and related experience.

Preferred Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Experience in higher education or a similarly complex organizational environment.
  • Experience with process-mapping tools and change management methodologies.
  • Strong knowledge of HR practices, project management, compensation fundamentals, and organizational design principles.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze processes, identify efficiencies, and develop clear documentation.
