The role is an hourly position based in Palo Alto, CA (onsite).

Where You'll Make a Difference
  • Perform preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs across plumbing, electrical, and general building systems
  • Operate and utilize technical equipment such as multimeters, gas meters, temperature, and airflow meters
  • Maintain laboratory utilities including compressed air, RO/DI water, natural gas, oxygen, nitrogen systems, and gas detection systems
  • Install and service tubing systems for air, gas, and water applications
  • Prepare, install, calibrate, and maintain laboratory equipment such as incubators, biosafety cabinets, centrifuges, and freezers
  • Coordinate with external contractors and vendors for specialized maintenance and repairs
  • Support equipment relocation, installation, and facility projects in alignment with EH&S (Environment, Health & Safety) standards
  • Safely operate material handling equipment including pallet jacks and powered industrial trucks
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records, reports, and documentation using Excel
What Makes You the Right Fit
  • High School Diploma with technical training (AA/AS or trade school in Facilities, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or equivalent)
  • Experience in facilities maintenance within a laboratory or similar environment
  • Knowledge of electrical systems (AC/DC), plumbing, refrigeration systems, and controls
  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written) and basic computer literacy
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams, OneDrive)
  • Ability to work independently while managing priorities effectively
  • Strong attention to detail with a focus on cleanliness and organization
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with a strong work ethic

  • Experience with gas detection systems and laboratory safety protocols

Working Hours
  • Standard schedule: Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM - 4:00 PM
  • Shift flexibility: Ability to work alternative shifts (10:30 AM - 6:30 PM) approximately 2-3 times per year
  • Additional flexibility:
    • Overtime as needed
    • On-call availability for after-hours support
