SCOPE OF POSITION
Under the direction of a pharmacist and in coordination with othertechnicians, prepares unit dose and intravenous medications for dispensing to patients. Makes scheduled deliveries to appointed nursing units to deliver medications to patients. Assists pharmacists with medication order entry into the pharmacy computer system. Maintains stock levels of medications to avoid delays in service to patients. Demonstrates ability to work as a member of a team. Serves as functional and technical expert in a given area or specialty. Leads and directs technical activities in that specialized area. Lead PharmacyTechnicianacts as a positive role model for alltechnicians and acts in an encouraging manor conducive to the hospital, department and administrations visions and values. Lead PharmacyTechnicianassists and or lead with productivity management, training, mentoring of new staff, special projects, and committee meetings. Lead PharmacyTechniciancomplies with all hospital and department rules, regulations and requirements.

POSITION SUMMARY

This position performs all duties of a PharmacyTechnicianSenior, in addition to coordinating daily workflow, daily assignments and providing overall support to the operation of the department. The Lead provides all quality assessment and audit activities for the Pharmacy area. This position functions to assist the licensed pharmacist in providing pharmaceutical services to patients, as well as providing necessary services and information to nursing and medical staff. These services include leading the preparation and packaging of medications, distribution of medications, supplies and equipment, maintaining proper inventory levels, keeping appropriate records and documentation, and submitting patient charges/credits. This position is also responsible for supporting initiatives of area supervisors and managers and at times assists in the implementation of such. Provides assistance in assessing Pharmacy.

MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School graduate or equivalent.

  • Certified Pharmacy Technician.

  • 1 year of relevant experience required. 2-4 years of relevant experience preferred.
