The expected hiring range for this position is:

$70,800.00-$100,667.00.

About the role:
Fermilab's Accelerator Division (AD) Systems Engineering Group is seeking an Industrial Controls Engineer to be involved in the support of active accelerators and in the development of future high-intensity physics machines. This position is an electronics hardware engineering position responsible for the design, deployment, and maintenance of electronics hardware for the Fermilab Accelerator Control System. This position primarily involves industrial controls for systems such as cooling water, accelerator vacuum, and stepper motors for movable devices.

What your day-to-day as an Industrial Controls Engineer at Fermilab will look like:

  • Develop, install, and maintain motor control solutions to replace legacy systems that are past end-of-life (ACS StepPak and VME stepper controllers).
  • Develop, install, and maintain PLC solutions to replace legacy systems that are past end-of-life (SixTrak PLCs, CIA vacuum crates, etc.).
  • Install & maintain PIP-II PLC solutions for Absorber RAW system.
  • Install & maintain Gallery LCW and Vacuum system.
  • Install & maintain RFQ intermediate skid system.
  • Install & maintain F-sector standalone LCW system.
  • Install & maintain Beam absorber air cooling skids.
  • Install & maintain half-wave resonator power coupler position drive system.
  • Install & maintain LBNF PLC solutions for LBNF5 building LCW and vacuum systems.
  • Install & maintain LBNF PLC solutions for LBNF20 hydrogen and helium systems.
  • Install & maintain LBNF PLC solutions for LBNF20 RAW water-cooling system.
  • Install & maintain LBNF PLC solutions for LBNF30 building LCW and vacuum systems.
  • Install & maintain LBNFPLC solutions for LBNF40 building LCW and vacuum systems.

Essential Competencies and Attributes for Success:

  • Bachelor's (minimum) in an applicable Engineering discipline from an ABET accredited institution.

Applicable Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

  • Basic professional knowledge of theories, concepts, principles, and methodology for the engineering discipline. Possess ability to perform basic engineering design solutions and techniques.
