What you'll do and what you'll bring:

Position Function: Supervise activities of Environmental Control Mechanics, Environmental Control Electro- Mechanics, and Group Leaders; coordinate maintenance, operation of Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning systems in academic and administrative buildings; maintain water quality in swimming pools.

Duties & Responsibilities:

1. Oversee, monitor, assign, check, evaluate, and coordinate Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning work in academic and administrative buildings to maximize effective operation.

2. Schedule, coordinate, and control preventive maintenance program for Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning control equipment usingTMAsoftware.

3. Acquire and maintain current knowledge of technical changes in Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning control, including hardware and software; determine current and future needs and direct staff training in appropriate work methods and technological changes.

4. Supervise, assist hiring, orient and train, assign work to, and evaluate performance of Environmental Control Electro-Mechanics, Environmental Control Mechanics, and Environmental Control Group Leaders; make recommendations as to interviewing and selection, performance appraisal, and discipline; approve time records and work order expenditures.

5. Determine the means and method to upgrade building automation control systems related to Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning equipment, including hardware and software.

6. Order needed parts and equipment using SciQuest and maintain inventories of needed parts in shop and all vehicles.

7. Consult with building occupants, Facilities Planning and Management supervisory staff, skilled employees, contractors, and vendors to resolve problems; coordinate work activities among other shops.

8. Supervise activities to monitor water purity in swimming pool and stills in academic-science areas.

9. Assist in handling bargaining unit issues that arise within Environmental Control Mechanics and Environmental Control Electro-Mechanics.

10. Plan and assist in the installation of environmental control equipment; review outside contractors and/or vendor installation for proper operation; assume responsibility for operation after installation.

11. Monitor and enforce all safety, shop, and university rules and regulations, report problems to the Utility Engineer, and resolve problems appropriately.

12. Perform other duties as assigned.

13. Maintain regular and predictable attendance.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associate's degree or equivalent as determined by the University in Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) maintenance or related training beyond high school.

  • At least five years of experience in the area ofHVAC/temperature controls.

  • At least three years of supervisory experience in these areas.

  • Must possess and maintain a valid Indiana Driver's License and be insurable under the university's auto fleet policy; personal computer and software proficiency.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree.

  • Over five years ofHVACmaintenance experience.

  • Over five years of supervisory experience.
