The Position

2026 Summer Intern - Analytical Development

Department Summary

The Analytical Development team in Philadelphia is part of Roche's Gene Therapy technical development function (PTCG). We accelerate the development of gene therapies by building the analytical roadmap used to assess product quality, safety, and efficacy. Through the detailed characterization of viral capsids, we provide the critical data needed to support regulatory approvals and deliver life-changing medicines to patients. We are seeking a curious and motivated co-op to join our team to advance the comprehensive molecular characterization of AAV gene therapy vectors.

This internship position is located in Philadelphia, on-site.

The Opportunity

  • Gain hands-on experience with Mass Spectrometry (LC-MS) workflows-specifically intact mass analysis, PTM profiling, and peptide mapping-alongside other biochemical assays to characterize viral vector protein quality attributes.

  • Work alongside Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to learn advanced sample preparation techniques, assisting in the generation of study material, and the integration of data from complementary analytical methods.

  • Analyze experimental data to assess structural features and capsid composition, contributing directly to the team's understanding of product quality.

  • Assist in evaluating relationships between molecular product quality attributes and process performance.

  • Document experimental protocols and results in laboratory notebooks and present technical findings to the research team.

Program Highlights

  • Intensive 6 months, full-time (40 hours per week) paid internship.

  • Program start dates are in May/June 2026.
