Community Intervention Specialist - Landlord Engagement


Department of Health and Human Services


Hourly Range: $25.11 - $37.65

Job Summary: The Community Intervention Specialist is responsible for building relationships with landlords and stakeholders to increase housing options across Housing Services. This position will work with individuals to secure housing and provide post-placement housing retention services when necessary.



Job Duties:



  • Develop and strengthen relationships with area landlords and stakeholders to find and obtain units for Milwaukee County Housing programs.
  • Collaborate with housing services staff to help individuals identify, apply for, and secure appropriate housing. This includes assessing housing needs and barriers, conducting housing searches, coordinating showings, and assisting with applications as well as the collection of vital documents.
  • Support the connection of individuals with appropriate services in the community and through DHHS. Offer mediation strategies for property partner concerns through education, relationship management, and networking with local service providers to maintain housing stability Milwaukee County supported tenants.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.



Minimum Requirements:



  • Current resident of the State of Wisconsin.
  • Current Wisconsin Driver's License and access to a reliable insured vehicle; both maintained throughout employment.
  • A Bachelor's degree or higher in Social Work or a Human Services related field from an accredited college or university.
  • At least one (1) year of experience working with housing assistance and/ or individuals experiencing homelessness.
  • At least intermediate knowledge of all computer and software applications such as Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel.
  • Must be able to travel 70% of work time.



Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Knowledge of available housing resources; knowledge of rental assistance programs and housing navigation; knowledge of the permanent supportive housing model; ability to work with colleagues and stakeholders.
