GENERAL FUNCTION

The Sr. Manager - Professional Affairs Consultant is a senior field-based expert responsible for representing our product portfolio-including innovations such as Stellest lenses-across optometry channels. This role drives professional education, supports event execution, partners closely with Professional Affairs and Medical Affairs teams, and strengthens relationships with optometrists, academic centers, and external ECP consultants. The Sr. Manager also ensures all external engagements follow industry, medical, and regulatory guidelines.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES



  • Execute national and regional professional-affairs strategies that elevate awareness and adoption of priority med-tech products.
  • Represent the organization at optometry-related events, conferences, and professional meetings.
  • Deliver product education through 1:1 meetings, small-group training, and speaking opportunities.
  • Conduct advisory boards with Marketing, Medical Affairs, and Strategy teams to gather insights and shape future plans.
  • Build and maintain relationships with faculty at optometry schools, teaching institutions, and influential optometric organizations.
  • Support cross-functional projects with Sales, Marketing, Medical Affairs, and key accounts to drive customer education and product understanding.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert for med tech. product messaging and evidence-based claims, ensuring alignment with regulatory and compliance standards.
  • Maintain full adherence to regulatory guidelines and industry codes governing medical and optometric communications
  • Manage financial information, track events and programs, and independently execute large, complex projects within scope and budget.


QUALIFICATIONS



  • Doctor of Optometry (OD) required
  • 7+ years of experience in ophthalmic or optometric sales, marketing, medical affairs, or professional education, with demonstrated career progression.
  • Strong communication, presentation, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Experience delivering speaking engagements, developing educational content, and supporting professional programming.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects, leverage data and insights, and work independently in a field-based environment.
  • Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree or certifications in optometry/eye-care-adjacent fields preferred.
  • Ability to travel 50-75% (including occasional evenings/weekends).
  • Strong knowledge of or willingness to learn industry compliance standards and regulatory frameworks.
