The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) is on the lookout for a motivated individual to fill the role of Roadway Programs Coordinator within the Bureau of Operations, specifically in the Winter Maintenance Section. This position involves overseeing winter maintenance programs and managing associated service activities, ensuring that our roadways remain safe and accessible during the winter months. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This role encompasses a range of responsibilities related to winter operations, particularly focusing on Area Command readiness during activations or emergency situations. You will oversee the Road Weather Information System (RWIS) program, which includes managing user training, analyzing the data gathered from the system, and handling the associated contract for maintenance, repairs, and data services. In addition, your duties will involve facilitating the implementation and management of the Snow Route Planning Application, particularly in relation to rented equipment and Municipal Agreements. Collaboration with the Bureau of Planning and Research will be essential, as you will provide oversight, conduct data analysis, and offer user support for the Snow Route Planning Application. Furthermore, you will contribute to Winter Services by developing a system for tracking weekly winter materials and analyzing the data from these reports to assess current policies regarding salt usage and capacity thresholds.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. Additional details may be provided during the interview.
  • This position may be eligible for Alternate Work Schedule (AWS).

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year of experience as a Roadway Programs Specialist or Roadway Programs Technician Supervisor (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • Three years of experience in the analysis, development, and implementation of methods and techniques used in a roadway maintenance management system; and an associate's degree in a field of business administration, computer science, highway engineering technology or closely related program; or
  • One year of experience in the analysis, development, and implementation of methods and techniques used in a roadway maintenance management system; and a bachelor's degree in business administration, computer science, mathematics, statistics, or civil engineering related discipline; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training.
