  • NJDOT standards compliance: Apply NJDOT's delivery process, including FD guidelines, manuals, NEPA/FHWA procedures, and QA/QC protocols.

  • Complex technical coordination: Manage interdisciplinary teams covering roadway, bridge, drainage, geotechnical, hydraulics, utilities, MOT, ITS, traffic signal design, and ROW coordination.

  • Budget & schedule control: Maintain overall accountability for budget, schedule, scope, and quality on multiple concurrent projects.

  • Public involvement & stakeholder engagement: Lead public outreach efforts and serve as primary liaison with NJDOT, FHWA, municipalities, and utilities.

  • Construction engineering support: Oversee shop drawing reviews, construction schedule monitoring, and change order plan development.

  • Business development: Lead RFP responses and cultivate long-term client relationships.

  • Mentorship & leadership: Develop junior staff, foster technical innovation, and contribute to agency leadership.

What You Bring

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in civil engineering (ABET-accredited).

  • Licensure: Active New Jersey Professional Engineer (or comity eligible).

  • Experience: 10+ years in transportation design, including at least one major NJDOT project from preliminary engineering through construction within the past 15 years.

  • NEPA Exposure: Demonstrated experience working within FHWA's NEPA process.

  • Technical proficiency: MicroStation with InRoads/OpenRoads; 3D corridor modeling; BIM; deep familiarity with NJDOT standards and manuals.
