Job Description:

POSITION SUMMARY

The Corporate Tax Accountant is responsible for managing and facilitating the accurate preparation and filing of the company's state, federal, and local tax forms in partnership with external tax advisors. This position develops tax strategies and policies to maintain compliance with local and federal tax laws and regulations and works to identify and resolve tax issues.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Coordinates multistate sales and use tax return efforts between internal and external stakeholders and prepares monthly and quarterly sales and use tax filings and payments
  • Serves as the internal tax partner supporting all corporate functions or business initiatives with tax issues or questions.
  • Partners with an external tax advisor to file the company's federal, state, and local income tax returns and related tax documents.
  • Oversee and prepare monthly and quarterly tax estimates, extensions, and payments.
  • Monitors legislative and regulatory developments for risks and opportunities and assists in researching and resolving technical tax issues.
  • Manages the support and documentation required to respond to requests from state, IRS, or external auditors.
  • Coordinates process improvements across the business with respect to tax compliance and other accounting matters.
  • Ensures compliance with current federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Ensure robust internal controls for tax processes to mitigate risk.
  • Provide tax-related training to internal teams to improve compliance awareness
  • Responsible for vendor maintenance and setup, as well as TIN matching to ensure accurate vendor information is stored in our system.
  • Collaborates closely with the Controller and reports on all matters related to tax compliance.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field; minimum 5 years of progressive experience in corporate tax accounting with a strong emphasis on sales and corporate tax, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of U.S. tax laws and regulations, including federal, state, and local tax compliance.
  • Proven ability to develop and implement tax planning strategies that optimize the company's tax position.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, with sound judgment for effective decision-making.
  • Meticulous attention to detail, ensuring accuracy and compliance with standards.
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across diverse teams and functions.
  • Thrives in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, consistently meeting deadlines and managing competing priorities.
  • Demonstrated leadership capability, with experience guiding and motivating teams to achieve results.
  • Strong ability to communicate complex tax concepts clearly to stakeholders at all levels.
  • Proven success working in a collaborative, team-oriented environment, fostering positive relationships and shared goals.

PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • An advanced degree or CPA certification is highly desirable
  • Exceptional customer service orientation.
