At Blue Origin, we envision millions of people living and working in space for the benefit of Earth. We're working to develop reusable, safe, and low-cost space vehicles and systems within a culture of safety, collaboration, and inclusion. Join our team of problem solvers as we add new chapters to the history of spaceflight!

This role is part of Blue Origin Operations, which is comprised of Integrated Supply Chain, Test Operations, Safety, Quality, and Mission Assurance. This includes Manufacturing and Supply Chain support across all Blue Origin facilities.

We are seeking a hands-on, detail-orientedLaunch Engineerto join our Launch Operations team at Blue Origin. This role is responsible for developing, leading, and executing comprehensive test plans and procedures for integrated avionics subsystems, ground support equipment (GSE), and spaceflight systems. The ideal candidate thrives in a dynamic production environment, excels at troubleshooting complex electrical systems, and is committed to the highest standards of safety and technical rigor. You will work closely with multidisciplinary teams to support the integrated system testing of launch vehicles, ensuring quality and reliability for human spaceflight missions. Leveraging advanced methodologies and instrumentation, you will play a critical role in validating avionics systems and maintaining Blue Origin's commitment to mission success.

Position Specific Details:

  • Shifts: B | Mon-Thurs (2pm-12:30am), C | Fri-Sun (6am-6:30pm), D | Fri-Sun (6pm - 6:30am)

  • Location: Example: Space Coast, FL

  • Relocation: Available

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the industrialization of new products in areas such as solar arrays, integration and test, avionics, and structures.

  • Contribute to design for manufacturability (DFM), design for assembly (DFA), and design for test (DFT), key to building reliable vehicles for space exploration.

  • Translate engineering requirements into robust, repeatable manufacturing and test processes that support Blue Origin's mission.

  • Collaborate closely with design engineering, quality assurance, supply chain, and production teams to accelerate building a road to space.

  • Develop and maintain manufacturing and test documentation, including work instructions, process flow diagrams, tool designs, and inspection plans.

  • Evaluate and implement new manufacturing and test technologies and methods (e.g., advanced instrumentation, automated test equipment, precision measurement).

  • Support root cause analysis of process or product non-conformances; develop and implement corrective actions that enhance reliability and performance.

  • Ensure all work aligns with applicable quality and safety standards (AS9100, ISO 9001), supporting a safe and sustainable future in space.

  • Participate in process FMEAs, risk assessments, and validation of new production lines, equipment, and test setups.

  • Identify and complete opportunities for efficiency gains and cost reduction, optimizing our ability to achieve our mission at scale.

Team Focus & Domain Expertise

Launch Operations sits at the heart of Blue Origin's launch and spaceflight systems, turning design intent into hard data, clean checkouts, and flight confidence. Our Launch Engineers architect and execute integrated test campaigns for avionics, GSE, and flight hardware - from first poweron and subsystem verification to fullstack vehicle and padlevel tests that clear the way for launch day.

You won't just run procedures; you'll design smarter, faster, more resilient ways to test. You'll develop and refine automated test systems, data acquisition architectures, and instrumentation strategies that push test coverage, increase speed, and boost confidence for every mission. Technical depth in areas such as digital/analog electronics, power systems, communications, sensors, DAQ, and test automation (e.g., Python, LabVIEW, or similar tools) will let you dive deep when it matters - debugging issues at the bench, guiding test approaches, challenging assumptions, and setting a high technical bar for the systems you own.

Safety and mission assurance are our north star, and the stakes are real. You'll apply rigorous test engineering and safetybydesign principles while executing disciplined operations to validate systems that must work the first time, every time - supporting a high launch cadence while protecting crew, payloads, and ground personnel. Launch Engineers who thrive here combine sharp technical judgment with calm, clear thinking under pressure, and they bring the energy that comes with seeing their work roll to the pad, count down, and fly to space.

Launch & Mission Operations Engineers provide handson, frontline support at the sharp end of the mission - where hardware, people, and procedures come together to put vehicles and payloads into space. Depending on your background, you may focus on operations such as:

  • Launch Vehicle & Ground Operations - Performing vehicle integration, pad or test stand operations, ground fluid system operations (cryogenic, pneumatic, hydraulic), avionics/electrical checkout, and handson support to countdown and test events. You help turn a static vehicle on the stand into a launchready system, one checkout and one procedure at a time.

  • Payload & Processing Operations - Executing payload or spacecraft handling, integration, encapsulation, and facility operations, often in controlled or cleanroom environments. You ensure every payload is treated with the care and precision worthy of its science, mission, or customer.

  • Transportation & Handling - Supporting the movement, rigging, lifting, and securing of large or critical flight hardware using specialized transport and material handling equipment. You help choreograph the safe motion of highvalue hardware from factory floor to launch pad.

  • Mission & Control Room Support - Staffing control room positions during countdown and mission execution, including console operations, procedure execution, data monitoring, and coordination with supervisors, range, and mission teams. You're on the loop, providing realtime technical insight that keeps the timeline on track and the vehicle safe.

You're expected to bring solid handson operations or test experience in at least one of these domains, and the discipline to execute detailed procedures in a highconsequence environment. In this role, you'll own critical hardware and test scope, collaborate closely with supervisors and system owners, and provide realtime technical input to risk and go/nogo decisions that directly shape mission outcomes. If you're motivated by tight timelines, complex hardware, and the adrenaline of seeing the systems you tested and operated counted down and launched, this is where you'll feel at home.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical, Aerospace, Computer Engineering, or related technical field from an accredited university.

  • 3+ years of experience supporting test teams as a vehicle system operator, test conductor, Test & Launch Engineer, or console operator.

  • Experience troubleshooting hardware related to avionics, electrical, or control systems, with the ability to read schematics and layout designs.

  • 1+ years of experience developing English work instructions or test procedures.

  • Ability to support off-shift, extended hours, and weekends as required for mission milestones.

  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience testing and integrating vehicle electrical systems, including ground support equipment and electrical hardware.

  • Intermediate experience in developing and verifying instrumentation installation and operation procedures.

  • Background performing wiring installation, configuration, and troubleshooting for large systems.

  • Experience with automated test equipment, calibration, and configuration management.

  • Knowledge of engineering fundamentals for electrical design and verification, including test readiness and operational excellence.

  • Familiarity with data acquisition systems or tools such as Dewesoft.

  • Prior experience applying AS9100 quality standards in a test environment.
