*** This is a hybrid position with 2-3 days of onsite work requirement (based on meetings, work schedules, etc) from our Reston HQ - VA. Candidates must live within commuting distance to Reston - VA.

Leidos is seeking a passionate, driven, and experienced attorney to join our dynamic team in the Legal Department's Global Privacy Office. This is an exciting opportunity to advise stakeholders across a large global organization on privacy and data protection requirements and best practices in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

This position provides hands-on involvement across the full lifecycle of privacy matters-from issue spotting and risk assessment to solution design and implementation-working directly with business, technical, and compliance partners in Human Resources, CIO Services/Information Security, Contracts and Global Supply Chain, and Ethics & Compliance teams. The selected candidate will also serve as a trusted partner to the organization's lines of business providing practical legal advice on compliance with contractual and regulatory privacy and data protection requirements worldwide.

This role supports Leidos' mission to deliver trusted, ethical, and secure solutions for customers operating in highly regulated and mission-critical environments, where privacy compliance is foundational to trust and accountability.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Handling privacy and data protection-related inquiries from a wide range of stakeholders across the company and providing actionable advice and legal counsel
  • Reviewing, drafting and updating policies, procedures, and notices addressing the handling of personal information
  • Reviewing, drafting and negotiating privacy and data protection terms in various types of agreements (e.g., vendor/service provider agreements, customer agreements, data processing and data usage agreements, Business Associate Agreements)
  • Interpreting complex contractual privacy requirements, including flow-down obligations and risk allocation provisions common in government and prime-subcontractor relationships.
  • Advising in mission-critical, highly regulated environments where privacy compliance is foundational to trust, ethics, and contract performance.
    Providing advice on the development and implementation of the organization's privacy program
  • Developing guidelines, training, and tools to support accountability and compliance across the organization
  • Monitoring relevant legislative developments, regulatory guidance, and enforcement actions relating to privacy and data protection in the jurisdictions in which the company operates
  • Advising on privacy considerations related to emerging technologies including artificial intelligence, data governance initiatives, and evolving regulatory frameworks, consistent with Leidos' mission-critical and regulated operations.

Basic Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor from a U.S. accredited law school
  • Membership in the Virginia State Bar or the ability to become registered in-house counsel in Virginia.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Minimum of 6 years of experience advising on privacy/data protection compliance requirements
  • Knowledge of and familiarity with global privacy and data protection laws, regulations and standards, including the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act, the California Privacy Rights Act, the U.S. Privacy Act, state breach notification laws, the General Data Protection Regulation, the U.K. GDPR, and the Australian Privacy Act 1988
  • Demonstrated transactional experience, including reviewing, drafting and negotiating privacy and data protection contract terms and agreements, such as Business Associate Agreements and data protection agreements
  • Experience advising clients on compliance with HIPAA and other health privacy laws
  • Experience advising government contractors or clients operating in highly regulated, public-sector or government-adjacent environments preferred.
