DESCRIPTION OF WORK

You will develop a strong proficiency in using computers and laptops, complemented by specialized training in air conditioning service for various equipment. This role will allow you to demonstrate your teamwork skills, reliability, and commitment to safety in a professional environment. As you progress, you will enhance your communication abilities and learn essential techniques for conducting inspections, performing repairs, and implementing preventative maintenance across a diverse array of machinery. You will utilize laptops for diagnostic tasks and collaborate closely with certified mechanics to address air conditioning system repairs. Effective communication with fellow mechanics, operators, and garage office personnel will be crucial to relay information regarding equipment repairs accurately. It is important to adhere to scheduled work hours and break times, follow established safety protocols, and consistently wear the provided personal protective equipment (PPE). Additionally, you will assist Diesel Mechanics in troubleshooting and resolving a variety of issues related to chassis, driveline, engine, electrical systems, and suspension work across different types of equipment, ensuring a comprehensive understanding of the mechanical landscape. Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Work schedule will vary based on agreement between high school and COPA location
- High School internship beginning 7/1/2025 - 6/30/2026.
- Senior enrolled in High School 2025-2026 - The internship would be available through the 2025-2026 school year.
- Junior enrolled in High School 2025-2026 - The internship would go through the 2025-2026 school year, summer 2026, and 2026-2027 school year.
- Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Internship Requirements:
- You must be at least 16 years of age at time of hire.
- You must be a junior or senior enrolled in high school during the 2025 - 2026 school year.
Additional Requirements:
- Letter of Recommendation: You must attach a Letter of Recommendation from your school's co-op coordinator, career or guidance counselor, or similar designated school professional indicating that you meet your school's requirements and are being recommended for this opportunity.
- Work Permit: Minors will be required to submit their Work Permit upon acceptance of this position.
- Traditional high school and students in vo-tech curriculum related to mechanical and/or automotive trades.
- By participating in this program, the student and school agree to the use of the Commonwealth's Training Plan, Statement of Responsibilities, and Student Performance Evaluation. Forms will be provided to the student upon acceptance of this position.
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
