DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this internship, you will support geologists and engineers in the planning, development, and design of reclamation projects, as well as in conducting environmental studies within the Division of Project Development and Design. This role offers the chance to travel across Pennsylvania's coal fields, providing exposure to a variety of environmental challenges. Specifically, you will contribute to reclamation studies of abandoned mine lands by assisting in the development and input of data into the Bureau's Geographical Information System. Additionally, you will help prepare project development packages, collaborating with the Project Development Section to compile necessary documents for submission to the Design Section. These packages will include preliminary designs, cost estimates, site sketches with property maps, property owner contact forms, and environmental assessments to ensure compliance with the National Environmental Policy Act, along with federal forms required for funding eligibility and grant applications. Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time internship that will run from 5/1/2026 through 8/28/2026
- Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch
- Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, on a schedule that aligns with the supervisor. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Internship Requirements:
- Enrollment in good academic standing as a FULL-TIME student in a bachelor's, or advanced degree program in:
- Geology
- Environmental Science
- Environmental Studies
- An approved major course at an accredited college or university.
- Good academic standing (2.0 GPA or higher)
- Freshman year completed by May 2026
- Pennsylvania residency or enrollment of a Pennsylvania college or university.
Additional Requirements:
- You must possess a valid driver's license which is not under suspension.
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
