Under the direction of the Senior Manager of Operations, the Interpreter Coordinator is responsible for monitoring, triaging, and dispatching for all requests for medical interpreters. Must prioritize requests; allocate interpreter resources efficiently to contribute to optimal patient outcomes. Needs to negotiate with and educate hospital staff on efficient use of different interpreting modalities available in the hospital. Works in compliance with all office and hospital policies and procedures, particularly those regarding patient confidentiality and informed consent, and national professional standards and Code of Ethics.
Coordinates daily schedule workflow Works with supervisor to ensure adequate staffing levels driven by request volume Evaluates and coordinates the needs for outside agency services Serves as primary resource for intake of new interpreter requests Serves as a resource for Medical Interpreters and assigns duties needed to ensure a smooth operation Maintains schedule for Virtual Visits and assigns interpreters to these encounters Responsible for tracking vendor attendance assignments Performs daily work with a proactive approach working toward upcoming deadlines,goalsand activities to maximize outcomes Works with department team members, contributingnew ideasto approach daily work Dedicates oneself to continuously explore new process improvement activities Identifies and champions new opportunities for departmental participation. Respond to urgent or last-minute interpretation requests Analyze needs throughout the day to effectively assign interpreters via in-person, video, or telephonic interpreter modalities Utilize Epic to assign resources to patients with interpreter needs, document efforts to request interpreters, note relevant information, and create schedules for staff interpreters Represent the Interpreter Services Department in a customer focused fashion by returning phone calls and emails promptly, searching for answers andadditionalresources when necessary, taking initiative to solve problems, or request necessaryassistance. Coordinates and provides assistance with special projects for the Supervisor Distributes reports, statements and information requiring an understanding of Mass Eye and Ear and departmental procedures, often handling information which is highly confidential and sensitive in nature. May attend various departmental meetings, takeminutes,and coordinate follow-up actions whenever necessary. Establishes, maintains, and revises record keeping and filing systems. Provides the data entry function for various projects Performs other activities and duties as assigned EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Requires a professional, service-oriented individual with strong organizational skills and sound judgment. An independent thinker with the ability to work under limited supervision. Must possess a high school diploma or GED. Excellent communication skills and ability to work within a team environment are essential. WORKING CONDITIONS: Mental and visual attention requiring combination of alertness and manual dexterity when typing/using a PC. Office environment with occasional exposure to outside elements such as delivering equipment or to attend meetings. This is an onsite position.
