Claims Specialist

Description of Specific duties in a typical workday for this position:

OST Inc. is looking for an organized and proactive Claims Specialist to support our FEMA contract within our National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) Claims Department. This remote position is integral to our claims team, focusing on managing the Prior Loss History Request process and providing operational support across the claims function.   • Manage the Prior Loss History Request process from intake through closure, ensuring each request is fully documented and traceable.
  • Research claims in FEMA's system of record for all losses at the property address.
  • Review received claim files for completeness and readability.
  • Monitor and report prior loss request volumes, cycle times, and backlog to the Claims Manager, including during disaster surges.
  • Respond to written and verbal inquiries from FEMA, WYO carriers, and internal stakeholders related to prior loss history status and document availability.
  • Attend weekly staff and project meetings and coordinate closely with Claims Operations staff to align priorities and manage workload.
  • Provide cross functional support across NFIP Standard Operations, applying transferable skills to assist as prioritized by Program Leadership.



Position Requirements:



  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in insurance claims operations, claims support, or a related administrative claims role. NFIP experience preferred.
  • Proven ability to manage high-volume, detail-intensive workflows with consistent documentation and strong quality control.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Teams.
  • Experience with SharePoint lists or similar trackers and document management tools.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously while meeting deadlines.
  • Ability to support extended hours during high volume flood disasters or surge operations, as needed.
  • Must be able to obtain EOD high clearance.
  • US Citizen



Nice to Have:



  • Bachelor's degree in a related field (or equivalent work experience).
  • Experience with SharePoint for document management, including forms and lists.
  • Experience with FEMA's system of record.
  • Experience working with claims systems and data research tools, including the ability to interpret claim data for dates of loss, paid amounts, and coverage components.



This is a full time position paying a base salary of $85,000 and full benefits, and has possible bonus potential based on merit and performance. To be considered for this position , please apply online with a resume.
