Safety Coordinator/General Clerk III

Location: Silverdale, Washington - Naval Base Kitsap Bangor

Type: Non-Exempt

Work Schedule: Full-time, Day Shift

Compensation: $24.94 - $24.94 per hour

Tessera is seeking an organized and detailed Safety Coordinator/General Clerk III with a positive attitude.

Typical duties include but are not limited to:

  • SAFETY COORDINATOR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Coordinate and arrange safety committee meetings.

  • Coordinate daily safety topics for worksite meetings.

  • Update site workers on any safety policy changes or safety improvements.

  • Review AHA's and help with the development and revision of AHA's

  • Work with your supervisor to eliminate hazardous conditions and unsafe work practices. Intervene if you believe an employee is engaged in an unsafe work practice.

  • Assist with accident investigations that occur at your worksite.

  • Conduct monthly safety inspections of work areas. Document and report all deficiencies

  • Listen to employee suggestions about safety and bring those that appear to have merit to the SSHO for review.

  • Conduct yourself in a safe and professional manner in compliance with site policy, OSHA, or EM385 rules.

  • Gather hazardous condition reports as they are submitted to help determine the focus of Safety meetings.

  • Attend monthly Safety meetings held by the SSHO.

  • Participate in new hire training regarding Safety.

  • Communicate professionally and courteously with customers, and be efficient and timely.

  • Maintain professionalism in both appearance and demeanor.

  • Cross-train in all areas and locations, and be willing to learn new skills and tasks.

  • CLERK III RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Administrative Support.

  • Data Entry.

  • Communication (Written & Verbal).

  • Scheduling.

  • Technical Office Skills.

  • Problem Solving.

Qualifications:

  • One (1) year of safety experience preferred.

  • OSHA 30 certification preferred.

  • Must be familiar with risk management, compliance, hazard identification, and incident investigation.

Physical Requirements:

Employees must have the ability to perform the following physical demands for extended periods of time with or without assistance. The physical demands of this position may be reasonably accommodated for individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions on a case-by-case basis.

  • Must be able to lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.

  • May be required to reach, kneel, walk, stand, and use repetitive motion for several hours at a time based on position duties.

  • Work may require repetitive motion, reaching, lifting, kneeling, and walking. Standing or sitting for several hours at a time, climbing in and out of a vehicle, and up and down stairs may also be required.

  • Must have the perseverance to work effectively under pressure for extended periods of time.

  • A valid state driver's license is required with the ability to obtain and maintain coverage by Tessera's insurance.
