Supervise staff responsible for maintaining and updating the Chargemaster to comply with federal and state regulations as well as internal hospital policies. Perform complex coding and compliance reviews to ensure chargemasters are updated appropriately and staff are charging appropriately for services.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Responsible for reviewing compliance regulations and coding requirements (primarily Medicare) and incorporates these changes into the tasks/projects the team is working on.
2. Educates team and/or Department Managers on compliance and coding regulations.
3. Coordinates with team and/or Department Managers to set up new departments or procedures being performed. Ensure the charges are set up appropriately and timely in the Chargemaster and the staff responsible for entering charges is educated.
4. Assists in the development of Hospital System Policies relating to charge entry, documentation requirements and developing new charge items.
5. Helps with annual audit plan and conducts audits to assure all documented charges are being captured and performs audits to review the charges are being billed correctly on the claim.
6. Coordinates with billing to resolve any denial issues related to the Chargemaster.
7. Provides direct oversight of Chargemaster Analyst(s) work product for established quality and performance standards.
8. Assists Management in other projects and analyses.

REQUIRED:

1. B.S. degree in Nursing, Health Information Management, Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, or 10+ years' experience.
2. Must have a coding or nursing credential (RHIA, RHIT, CCS, RN) or a financial background.
3. Must have minimum of 5-8 years Chargemaster experience.
4. Demonstrated communication skills and an ability to work independently and deal effectively with various types of personnel.
5. Knowledge of Microsoft Office products.

PREFERRED:

1. Experience with various EMR/Billing systems.
