SPA is searching for a Director of Accounting to lead the accounting functions. The Company is experiencing a high rate of growth through acquisitions and organically and needs a leader to come and create scalable processes for a larger organization. This role requires excellent knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), Cost Accounting Standards (CAS), and the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) as well as experience managing a team of individuals.


Responsibilities

Expected Contributions and Responsibilities

  • Primarily responsible for leading the general ledger
  • Manage monthly financial close processes, coordinating team efforts around the close schedule; and ensure that required financial data is properly captured, reconciled, and reported.
  • Develop, maintain, and continuously improve the accounting processes and procedures that result in efficient and effective month-end consolidation and close process.
  • Manage internal and external reporting requirements including audits, regulatory reporting, and tax reporting, by ensuring the Company provides timely and accurate support.
  • Assist in implementing new accounting and reporting standards/requirements; helping the organization understand the basis and impact of the accounting standards changes, and development of needed operational process changes to support the implementation of the new standards.
  • Collaborate with the functional teams throughout the organization as necessary for acquisition integration
  • Lead a team of varied backgrounds to ensure there is a strong focus on teamwork, staff development, and growth.
  • Manage design and implementation of Deltek Costpoint and other financial information systems, as necessary.
  • Assist in the process of getting the organization up and ready for an IPO exit by creating and maintaining effective key controls for certain business processes.
  • Annually develop departmental objectives and recommend short-term and long-term plans with a focus on improving the effectiveness of assigned functions and internal controls.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Experience and Education

  • 12+ years Accounting experience, including managing a team
  • CPA and Bachelor's degree in accounting required
  • Government contracting and Deltek Costpoint experience preferred

Knowledge and Skills

  • Excellent knowledge of GAAP, CAS, FAR and internal controls
  • Strong organizational, prioritization skills, and attention to detail
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrate high level of integrity, professionalism including teamwork
  • Ability to effectively plan, work well under pressure and short deadlines, and manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Strong problem solving, research, and analytical skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a desire to work in a collaborative environment
  • Creates an atmosphere in which timely information flows smoothly through the organization
  • Actively pursues learning and self-development to enhance personal, professional and business growth; shares learning
  • Strong Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word skills
