This position is funded for 5 year(s); continuation past 5 year(s) will be based on university need, performance, and/or availability of funding. This is a/an 83.3% full-time equivalency (FTE) job with months off. The number of months off will be determined by the position's FTE percentage. The timing of months off will be set to meet the needs of the unit and the essential duties of the position. Questions related to HR105 FTE positions should be directed to the hiring manager during the interview process. This position is eligible for benefits associated with any full-time position. The salary grade and range listed in the posting is reflective of a 100% Full-time position. Full-time equivalency job offers may fall outside of the listed range due to the assigned percentage of effort.

POSITION SPECIFICS

The Schreyer Institute for Teaching Excellence has an opening for a Testing Center Day-Shift Supervisor at the Pollock Testing Center (PTC) on the University Park campus.The day-shift hours are 7:15 AM to 4:15 PM, which includes a one-hour unpaid lunch break.

The day-shift supervisor will oversee daily operations in the Testing Center in collaboration with the evening-shift supervisor to ensure consistent application of policies and procedures. Supervisors will work with management to develop and implement eTesting and Scanning procedures. Supervisors will create and maintain the eTesting request process, testing schedule, and resolve issues with eTesting and Scanning.

Responsibilities include:

  • Work with all staff to create a welcoming and comfortable environment for students, faculty, and other visitors to the Center
  • Monitor daily activities and supervise day-shift staff
  • Perform functions of and train staff in processes and procedures, troubleshooting, and monitoring of the testing lab
  • Evaluate performance of day-shift staff relative to daily expectations, troubleshooting, and unit procedures
  • Serve as the primary contact for troubleshooting issues of instructors and students
  • Serve as a backup for front-desk staff when necessary
  • Supervise scanning and process scanning requests
  • Liaise with IT and other support personnel, including troubleshooting immediate issues, providing feedback and recommendations

Requirements:

  • This is an on-site position atthe UniversityPark campus
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and periodically walk through the testing room

Preferred Requirements:

  • Have prior experience working with individuals from a variety of backgrounds and cultures (will serve a diverse student population)
  • Experience with exam scheduling systems and bubble sheet scanning
  • Experience with faculty and students in higher education

Successful candidates will:

  • Have strong customer service and communication skills
  • Be detail-oriented
  • Have experience with training and supervising staff

MINIMUM EDUCATION, WORK EXPERIENCE & REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS

Associate Degree 4+ years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience accepted Required Certifications: None

The Pollock Testing Center (PTC) includes a computer-based testing lab and exam scanning services for credit-bearing courses. The testing center includes 155 workstations to administer course exams to students. Scanning Services processes bubble-sheet answer sheets (Scantron) for course exams.

SALARY & BENEFITS

The salary range for this position, including all possible grades, is $42,100.00 - $61,000.00.
