Outdoor Power Equipment and Small Engine Mechanic: Position Summary: The Outdoor Power Equipment and Small Engine Mechanic is responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, servicing, and repairing a wide range of small motorized equipment - typically powered by two- or four-stroke gasoline engines. The focus is on maintaining safe, efficient, and reliable operation of machines like lawn mowers, chainsaws, generators, snow blowers. Key Responsibilities: Diagnosis and Troubleshooting: • Test engines with diagnostic tools (e.g., voltmeters, compression gauges). • Identify issues by dismantling equipment and examining components. Repair and Maintenance: • Service and repair engines and replace defective parts (e.g., spark plugs, carburetors, gears). • Adjust and tune various components for optimal performance. • Conduct routine maintenance (oil changes, lubrication, ignition tuning). • Reassemble and test equipment post-repair. Safety & Work Environment: • Follow safety protocols and wear PPE. • Maintain a clean and organized workspace. Required Skills & Qualifications: • Mechanical expertise with tools and small engines. • Diagnostic and troubleshooting skills for mechanical, electrical, and fuel systems. • Effective communication and record-keeping abilities. • Physical stamina for demanding tasks and environments.
