Job Description

Elwyn seeks an Accountant to prepare journal entries and reconciliations for the monthly general ledger close, conducts in-depth account analysis, and assist with monthly reporting.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Prepare and record journal entries by compiling and verifying account information, ensuring completion in accordance with our established monthly close calendar
  • Maintain and balance subsidiary accounts by verifying, allocating, posting, reconciling transactions, and resolving discrepancies
  • Conduct monthly and quarterly account reconciliations to ensure accurate reporting and ledger maintenance
  • Ensure program revenue and expenses are accurately recorded in the General Ledger, and perform any necessary accruals to ensure transactions are recorded in the proper period as part of the month and yearend close processes
  • Prepare clear and accurate supporting documentation for all transactions by providing source documents and calculation explanations using Microsoft Excel to enable review by an external auditor and to ensure accuracy and compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
  • Support program staff with requests for financial information with tasks including but not limited to providing expenditure reports, payment status and confirmations, and payroll-related information
  • Collaborate with program staff and Revenue Cycle Management team to ensure accuracy of revenue and accounts receivable entries. Review billing information provided by programs, compare to billing reports generated by the revenue team, and ensure revenue posted to General Ledger is accurate and consistent with information provided by program staff and Revenue Cycle team.
  • Prepare and submit monthly and quarterly cost reports to funding and government agencies to ensure timely reimbursement and to ensure Elwyn is in compliance with funder guidelines and government regulations
  • Assist with inquiries from external auditors by providing historical transaction information and supporting documentation to facilitate the audit testing process and comply with requests for financial information
  • Assist in the preparation of monthly management reports and accompanying schedules, worksheets, narratives, and other ad hoc reports as assigned to provide management with accurate financial information and inform business decision-making
  • Conduct analysis of and summarize financial information as requested to enable management to consider the financial impact of operational decisions
  • Document procedures and workflow for assigned areas of responsibility to facilitate the business process, provide a reference for new staff, and allow cross training if necessary
  • Understand workflow process, investigate issues, and recommend process changes if necessary to enhance business efficiency and productivity
  • Support the company's strategic plans through participating in strategic initiatives and projects, as assigned, with activities including but not limited to assisting with accounting software testing and following guidelines for electronic document storage to insure information is quickly and easily located
  • Perform other duties as assigned
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILLS REQUIREMENTS:
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field preferred
  • Two (2) years of experience in accounting
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of Generally-Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) preferred
  • Demonstrated strong analytical skills
  • Demonstrated strong attention to detail
  • Demonstrated strong time management and organizational skills
  • Demonstrated excellent judgment with the ability to independently solve problems and make decisions with little or no need for direct supervision
  • Demonstrated ability to anticipate future needed changes or identify problem areas and take effective actions
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment and effectively managing multiple, often competing, priorities
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • Must possess excellent collaboration, customer interaction, presentation, and written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated intermediate/advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Oracle Cloud Financials experience preferred
