Three Rivers Midlands is a comprehensive behavioral health facility treating children and adolescents through residential and Rehabilitative Behavioral Health Services (RBH). We treat males and females ages 11-18 for a wide spectrum of psychiatric issues, addictive behaviors, and chemical dependency related illnesses.

The Nurse Practitioner (NP) serves as an advanced practice nurse in the area of psychiatric mental health nursing, working in both direct and indirect patient care activities, Direct care functions include providing physical and psychiatric assessments, therapeutic interventions, and case management services, Indirect care functions include assuming role as a consultant person and educator and Prescriptive authority is accomplished through collaboration with a psychiatrist.

Qualifications

Position Requirements:

  • One (1) year of nursing experience preferred.
  • Masters of Science in Nursing, with a Psychiatric/Mental Health emphasis from an accredited college or university.
  • Currently licensed as a Nurse Practitioner in the state of South Carolina.
  • BLS Certification training required.
  • Valid SC Driver's License preferred.
  • Completion of hospital orientation requirements.
  • Maintains compliance with all Hospital policies and requirements.
  • Follows practice protocols agreed upon by supervising physician.
  • Serves as a consultant to the staff, providing education about psychiatric medication, psychiatric conditions and care giver interventions.Provides individual, group and family therapy as needed.
  • Provides education as needed to patients, families, and significant others.
  • Provides case management services, coordinates all aspects of the treatment plan with other team members, patient, significant family members and other health services involved in treatment.
  • Orders Labs and tests
  • Maintains and reviews patient medical services documents and records as necessary.
  • Formulating an appropriate diagnosis based on history, physical examination, and clinical findings.
  • Ordering appropriate diagnostic tests.
  • Prescribing pharmacologic agents.
  • Providing information/education and obtaining informed consent for psychotropic medications.
  • Prescribing non-pharmacologic therapies.
  • Making appropriate referrals to other health professionals and community agencies.
  • Determining the effectiveness of the plan of care through documentation of patient care outcomes.
  • Reassessing and modifying the plan as necessary to achieve medical and health goals.
  • Assisting patient family to plan for home care, providing instructions on techniques and methods of home care.
  • Participates in treatment planning, implementation and monitoring.
  • Participating in Quality Improvement activities including systematic review of records and treatment plans.
  • Ordering consultations.
  • Dictating admission orders and discharge summaries.
  • Successfully completes all required trainings via in services and/or Healthstream in a timely manner.
  • Responsibilities Delegated by Psychiatrist.
  • Maintain current credentials and continuing medical education.
