Pay Rate/Range: The budgeted salary range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position is $28.82/hr. Salary offers are determined based on final candidate qualifications and experience; the budget for the position; and the application of fair, equitable, and consistent pay practices at the University. The full salary range for this position is $25.38 to $35.97/hr.

Work Location: Valentine Eastern Sierra Reserves, Mammoth Lakes, CA

Brief Summary of Job Duties:

Serves as Outreach Coordinator for the UCSB Valentine Eastern Sierra Reserves. Manages and coordinates Reserve outreach and volunteer activities. Provides support for fundraising and special events and donor related communications. Assists with public communication and updates website and social media accounts, newsletters and announcements.

Required Qualifications:

  • 1-3 years Customer service or administrative experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma OR Bachelor's Degree from an accredited four year college or equivalent
  • 1-3 years Experience with operations at a remote field site
  • 1-3 years Experience in fundraising or donor development

Special Conditions of Employment:

  • Satisfactory criminal history background check
  • Mandated reporting requirements of Child Abuse
  • Required to hold a valid driver's license, have a driving record that is in accordance with local policies and procedures, and/or enroll in the California Employer Pull Notice Program.
  • Ability to work some evenings and weekends to facilitate events or other outreach activities.
  • UCSB is a Tobacco-Free environment

Job Functions and Percentages of Time:

  • 40% Outreach Coordination - Coordinates reserve outreach activities including the SNARL seminar series, volunteer, donor, and other public events. Liaises with local, state and federal agency partners, schools, non-governmental organizations and representatives from local or regional media outlets. Provides logistical support for resource management projects, coordinates volunteers and assists with field trips for classes and public user groups as needed. Participates in special administrative projects as needed.
  • 40% Development and Fundraising Assistance - Coordinates public and donor outreach and fundraising events, activities including maintaining regular communications with stakeholders and participants as requested by supervisor. Assists Reserve Director and development office staff by maintaining a database of donor information and coordinating regular communication with donors.
  • 20% Public Communication - Assists with modifications to the website and updates the website content. Assists with Social Media posts. Assists with creative content, production and distribution of electronic newsletters. Collaborates on the design, production and distribution of outreach & education materials with the Education Coordinator. Creates and distributes approved reserve announcements, media releases and other communications. Manage graphic documents, images, media releases and all digital files.
