Overview

The Endo Procedural Tech functions as support to the licensed nursing staff in prep/recovery and performs activities related to personal care and needs of endoscopy patients. Facilitates communication with other departments, visitors, patients, medical staff and employees. The Endo Procedural Tech assists the endoscopy team with the care of patients. Assists physicians in the procedure room with diagnostic and therapeutic procedures and is responsible for room preparation, handling of instruments, ordering and stocking of supplies, collection of specimens, reprocessing of endoscopes and accessory equipment, patient rooming and, and patient transportation.
Qualifications

Certifications: Certified Endoscope Reprocessor (CER) within 18 months - Healthcare Sterile Processing Association (HSPA); Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days - American Heart Association (AHA), Education: H.S. Diploma/GED (Required), Work Experience: Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA); Successful completion of Carle's HCT In Training Program; Worked as CNA within past 24 months; Completion of CNA coursework within past 24 months; At least one semester of nursing clinical experience; Relevant medical military training
Responsibilities

Assists with maintenance of unit supplies to ensure smooth function of unit, including stocking prep bays, cleaning equipment, ordering supplies and making up charts
Collects data on assigned patients as directed by Registered Nurse (RN) and ensures accurate documentation.
Demonstrates competency in selected psychomotor skills as outlined in the skills checklist including: measurement of vital signs, blood glucose monitoring, and department specific POC testing.
Performs or assists patients with the activities of daily living. Prepares patients for transportation and/or transport.
Assists the endoscopy team during procedures.
Assists in organization and coordination of supplies and equipment to maintain an efficient and cost effective department.
Demonstrates competency in accepted Digestive Health skills.
Reprocesses endoscopes and accessory equipment in accordance with hospital policy and SGNA guidelines.
Assists the physician with equipment needed to perform procedure.
Prepares the procedure room with appropriate supplies and equipment.
Reprocesses endoscopes.
Assists the RN. Provides care to patients that is within their scope as directed by the RN.
Assists the physician in collecting specimens.
Assists the RN in the procedure room and provides care to patients that is within their scope as directed by the RN. Assists the physician in collecting specimens.

Compensation and Benefits

The compensation range for this position is $20.53per hour - $33.26per hour. This represents a good faith minimum and maximum range for the role at the time of posting by Carle Health. The actual compensation offered a candidate will be dependent on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate's experience, qualifications, location, training, licenses, shifts worked and compensation model.
