THE ROLE:

This is an engineering management position responsible for a product engineering team. Manages and controls activities in multi-functional areas of the team.

THE PERSON:

In this role, you will ensure overall yield attainment and improvement, process compliance and uniformity, and test coverage of AMD system products from new product introduction through volume manufacturing by analyzing, improving processes, identifying outliers, designing, developing, and modifying product specific test hardware, software and diagnostics. Team correlates the test solution to lab/manufacturing/customer platforms to validate product design, fabrication process, packaging technology, and manufacturing robustness to product specifications. Acts as liaison with internal customers/partners and vendors.

KEY RESPONSIBILITES:

  • Responsibility for cost and yield attainment and improvement
  • Receives assignments in the form of objectives with goals and the process by which to meet those goals.
  • Recommends changes to unit or sub-unit policies.
  • Communicate status to management or executive staff.
  • Influences technical decisions that have an impact on final product.
  • Champions important technical decisions.
  • Management reviews work to measure meeting of objectives.
  • Provides direct supervision to professional individual contributors and/or skilled support individual contributors (i.e. technicians, support personnel).
  • Provides direction to individual contributors according to established policies and management guidance.
  • Administers company policies that directly affect subordinate employees.
  • Runs weekly 1:1 with individual contributors providing feedback and coaching.
  • Sets clear team goals and responsibilities.
  • Acts as advisor to a unit or sub-units and may become actively involved as required to meet schedules and resolve problems.
  • Identifies talent gaps, recruiting diverse candidates internally and externally.
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationship with other departments.
  • Collaborate on or assume responsibility for a specific project, or a definable portion of a larger project or process.
  • Other duties as necessary.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Experience driving process, yield, and quality
  • >7 years of experience in product development, preferably in semiconductors.
  • >2 years of experience managing projects.
  • >5 years of experience managing a team.
  • >3 years of experience with developing tests, patterns/vectors, timing, and diagnostics on Automated Test Equipment
  • Experience with a scripting language (Perl, Ruby, shell script, or similar).
  • Experience in XP, AGILE, Scrum, or Kanban as Scrum Master or Product Owner.
  • Statistical analysis experience to determine population mean and outliers.
  • Pareto analysis experience to drive a debug process.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work with geographically distributed product engineering teams.
  • Experience presenting to Director level management internally.

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:


Candidates will have a B.S. or M.S. degree plus 5 years of engineering or related experience and 2 years of experience managing a team.
