The Opportunity
Ulteig is seeking a Transmission Planning Market Lead to join our team. This role is ideal for someone with a strong technical background in transmission planning-such as generator interconnection, large load studies, LMP analysis, and curtailment studies-who is ready to transition into a client-facing leadership position. You'll leverage your technical expertise to build relationships, present solutions, and help drive growth, while reducing day-to-day modeling work.

The selected candidate will collaborate with market leaders, technical teams, proposal development, marketing, and department leaders to expand Ulteig's transmission and resource planning footprint. This position offers the chance to travel across the U.S., meet with clients, and shape strategic pursuits while influencing how we deliver high-value studies.

What You'll Do

Client Engagement & Market Growth

  • Participate and/or lead client meetings to present Ulteig's capabilities, and identify opportunities.
  • Serve as the primary liaison for transmission planning clients-understand their needs and translate them into actionable solutions.
  • Support Client Team Leads in meetings, feedback sessions, and escalated communications.
  • Represent Ulteig at key industry events (Xcelerate, RE+, ACP, IEEE, etc.) as a Transmission Planning SME.
  • Collaborate with strategic planning and business development teams to align offerings with client roadmaps and emerging market trends.

Proposal Development & Pursuit Support

  • Lead proposal efforts for transmission planning studies, including technical scoping, pricing validation, and narrative development.
  • Maintain pursuit documentation and update opportunity tracking systems.
  • Participate in go/no-go decisions and provide technical insights during RFP/RFI processes.
  • Support pre-bid discussions and client calls with clear, strategic input.

Technical Advisory & Oversight

  • Provide high-level technical guidance on studies (generator interconnection, large load, curtailment, LMP).
  • Ensure quality and accuracy of deliverables by advising on methodology and best practices.
  • Act as a bridge between technical execution teams and client expectations-helping translate complex results into actionable insights.
  • While this role is not primarily hands-on modeling, familiarity with tools like PowerGem TARA PSSE or PLEXOS is essential for effective oversight and client discussions.

What We Expect from You

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Project Management, Business, or related field.
  • Utility or ISO experience with performing transmission planning studies.
  • Renewable developer experience performing transmission planning studies.
  • Understanding of interconnection processes, NERC standards, and ISO/RTO planning practices.
