In 2014 Dollar Bank formally established its Archives Program that comprises of a nearly full record of the Bank's activities since 1855. This collection includes bound accounting ledgers, executive and Board of Trustees meeting minutes, photographic prints, marketing material and other ephemera. This position will provide the Archival Intern with entry-level duties along with basic elements of managerial-level competencies in the following areas; archival appraisals, acquisition, processing, oral histories, historical research, history tours, metadata development, content management systems and data visualization.
Education and Experience Requirements: To achieve a successful experience, it is preferred that a candidate has at least some training in historiography, academic writing and archival appraisal and processing. Knowledge, Skill, and Ability Requirements: Ability to maintain confidentiality. Analytical Skills. Ability to work as part of a team. Experience with Microsoft Office Suite including Excel and Adobe Acrobat or at least one content management system. Experience with Python programming or TensorFlow would be beneficial but not required. Essential Functions: Helping identify and assess archival value of materials. Processing the collection, including physical arrangement (sorting, boxing, labeling). Inventorying and describing of materials. Creating database records Creating collection guides and other basic finding aids Drafting of records retention policy and schedule for the historic records of the archive, utilizing recognized archival and records management practices. Communicating with other special collection interns and records management staff. Planning and/or preparing for related 4th Avenue branch exhibits. Developing historical articles for the bank's bi-monthly newsletter Dollar Digest All employees have the responsibility and the accountability to serve as risk managers for their businesses by understanding, reporting, responding to, managing, and monitoring the risk they encounter daily as required by Dollar Bank's risk management program.
