We are seeking a highly skilled Sr. Derivatives Operations Analyst to join our Derivative Operations Team in Newport Beach, CA. This is an onsite role.

As a Sr. Derivatives Operations Analyst, you will play a critical role in supporting Pacific Life's growth and long-term success by providing comprehensive operational coverage for Traders and Portfolio Managers executing financial derivatives on behalf of the firm and its entities. This position is part of a collaborative team of six within the Pacific Life Investments (PLI) division.

How you'll help move us forward:

  • Collaborate with colleagues, custodian banks, external partners, and internal departments including Front Office, Accounting, Audit, Treasury, Compliance, Legal, and Risk Management.
  • Ensure timely settlement of all cash flows related to traded instruments.
  • Maintain comprehensive knowledge of OTC and exchange-traded derivatives including trade execution, clearing, valuation, confirmation, affirmation, reconciliation, and settlement processes.
  • Review and resolve valuation discrepancies within established deadlines.
  • Work effectively both independently and within a team environment to meet strict deadlines and manage multiple priorities with minimal supervision.
  • Apply best practices and leverage internal and external insights to enhance products, services, and operational workflows.

The experience you bring:

  • 5+ years derivatives experience working in investment operations/middle office role in asset management, hedge fund, or investment banking.
  • College degree in finance, accounting, or similar discipline, is preferred.
  • Thorough understanding of investment operations, new concepts and regulations and technology being used, including trading workflows and typical systems involved.
  • Basic knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Statutory (STAT) relating to securities investments.
  • Detailed knowledge and experience of providing full operational support to trading and portfolio management across Exchange traded and all Bilateral OTC Derivative instruments.
  • With minimal supervision, able to work with internal and external parties to resolve complex issues.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in performing all responsibilities by following documented processes and procedures, while exhibiting attention to detail and accuracy while showing initiative to help improve or redesign key processes.
  • Advanced research, problem solving, and resolution skills, including familiarity with legal documents and internal files related to securities owned.

What makes you stand out:

  • Thorough working knowledge of complex security types, including Bilateral OTC (IRS, Cross Currency, Equity TRS, CDS, Options, Forwards), Cleared and Exchange-traded products
  • Experience and ability to leverage the following systems: Bloomberg, Calypso, MarkitWire, ePam, and TriResolve.
  • Proven history ofself-driven process improvements involving IT resources to increase scalability and reduce manual errors/risks.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including ability to work with legal documents and internal files related to securities.

Base Pay Range:

The base pay range noted represents the company's good faith minimum and maximum range for this role at the time of posting. The actual compensation offered to a candidate will be dependent upon several factors, including but not limited to experience, qualifications and geographic location. Also, most employees are eligible for additional incentive pay.

$48.33 - $59.07
