Job Summary:

The University of Colorado School of Medicine, Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation is seeking a full-time board-certified physiatrist at the Associate Professor level to serve as the Inpatient Rehabilitation Medical Director at the University of Colorado Hospital, Anschutz Medical Campus. The position reports to the Chair of the Department of PM&R. This individual will thrive in a team environment, relate effectively with colleagues and patients, and possess strong teaching skills and research interests.

Key Responsibilities:

* Act as Inpatient Medical Director for Rehabilitation Services including clinical and administrative oversight of the unit

* General inpatient services (12 bed acute rehabilitation unit and inpatient consults), consultation services, and general outpatient clinics (hospital and satellite options) with expansion expected in both areas within 5 years.

* Maintains working knowledge of CMS regulations specific to Inpatient Rehab Facilities (IRF) and ensures compliance

* Demonstrates understanding of the UDS system for submitting data to CMS and for reporting functions

* Leads ongoing maintenance and continuous readiness for Joint Commission Disease Specific Certification in Spinal Cord Injury Rehabilitation.

* Collaborates with acute care therapy and care management leadership to ensure coordinated clinical workflows, smooth transitions of care, and alignment of inpatient rehabilitation services with acute care operations.

* Supports in leadership of Quality Improvement Initiatives

* Supports NDNQI data and develops process to maintain strong physician to staff working relationship

* Partners with PM&R staff on developing provider and call schedules

* Collaborates with Department Finance Team on accountability of provider productivity and identifying opportunities to align with financial targets

* Facilitates educational opportunities for Rehab Staff (nursing and therapy)

* Participate in inpatient PM&R call pool at the University of Colorado Hospital Anschutz Medical Campus

* Supervise medical students, residents and fellows

* Participate in Department academic activities including Grand Rounds and Resident lectures/didactics

* Active pursuit and participation in research activities as well as mentoring residents and other faculty in research endeavors

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

* MD or DO

* Board certified in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation

* 5+ years of experience in clinical medicine

* 2 years experience in post acute care

Preferred Qualifications:

* Experience in a medical directorship role is desirable

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

* Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and verbally

* Proven ability to care for patients with high complexity, both medically and psychosocially

* Ability to work collaboratively within a rehabilitation team and develop relationships within the medical community

Anticipated Pay Range:

The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as HIRING RANGE:

$240,000 - $300,000

The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position is not eligible for overtime compensation unless it is non-exempt.
