Job Summary The Sr Dir Technical Training is accountable for providing services focused on driving and executing organizational training needs across NiSource's Electric and Gas Utilities. This role partners with peers within the broader organization to leverage training requirements. This position will assist with creating and driving the training strategy, prioritizing, and seeking funding for new training requests. The Sr Dir Technical Training instills operational rigor and continuous improvement focus across the Utility Operations Support groups to enable the successful delivery of business results. This is accomplished by partnering closely with the Utility Presidents and SVP, Utility Technical Services to align priorities, investments and deliver intended results. Serves as liaison and partner in supporting and leveraging NiSource-wide initiatives, standards, and collaborative efforts.
Essential Functions
- Safety
* Accountable for employee and public safety for all areas of responsibility * Provides visible leadership by participating in safety kick-offs, executive safety observations, meetings, incident reviews and other events * Ensures proactive identification and registration of risk and threats * Continuously prioritizes and reprioritizes risk mitigation efforts through the risk assessment, audit, and compliance processes - Training
* Consults with operations leaders to create, enhance and deliver training/development programs * Spearheads the roll out of training and operations initiatives * Stays abreast of newest training technology and delivery ideas and techniques * Executes process for measurement (ROI) of success for all programs, job aids, training tools, manuals, and curriculum * Evaluates and assesses the effectiveness of key training initiatives to provide results and feedback to the company and brand leadership * Executes detailed project plans and timelines for work processes or project initiatives * Works collaboratively with operations and other departments on priorities for programs and rollouts. Ensure that all levels receive the proper roll-out of training - Operational Rigor & Continuous Improvement Leadership
* Recommends opportunities for process improvement as it relates to technical training and initiates process changes as needed through the appropriate resources * Identify and implement a technology system that meets the needs of all stakeholders * Designs and implements standard work methods across all areas of responsibility * Instills a focus on continuous improvement and partners with other business leaders to execute improvements that directly improve safety, customer experience and financial results * Ensures timely delivery of continuous improvement work and shares accountability with the business sponsor to achieve identified results, including savings - Financial Management
* Accountable for the productive use of both capital and O&M dollars * Adheres to annual budget and adjusts accordingly - Talent Management
* Proactively develops direct reports and other key leaders to ensure strong succession and bench strength * Takes employee engagement personally and ensures robust plans are in place to create positive employee experiences
Required Qualifications For Position
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience
- 7-9 years of progressively responsible experience, 5 + years of which were in a leadership role.
- Experience in business operations within a regulated utility.
- Professional experience working within utility operations.
- Experienced in aligning accountabilities, resource capabilities, internal processes, and ongoing measurement systems to ensure that strategic priorities yield measurable and sustainable results
- Strong financial and business acumen
- Ability to communicate training needs, reporting gaps in training and knowledge at all levels
- Demonstrated ability to recommend and implement solutions to training gaps
- Demonstrated ability to maintain and improve training delivery to field service employees
- Strong analytical skillset required to create robust measurement processes including predictive evaluation, tracking and reporting
- Demonstrated experience as successful people developer and leader
- Basic understanding of external continuous improvement methods
- Proven results-oriented record, with ability to quickly respond to changing circumstances
- Exposure and understanding of external factors influencing the energy sector
- Develop relationships and networks across NiSource to ensure overall business needs are met
- Strong focus on talent development and succession planning
- Strong stakeholder engagement and management experience
- Able to confidently raise sensitive issues in an objective and productive manner
- Expert in prioritizing goals, particularly when they may be at conflict

Salary Range*: $192,200.00 - $288,300.00
*The salary offered to a candidate is based on several factors including but not limited to the candidate's skills, job-related knowledge, and relevant experience, as well as internal pay equity. Posting Start Date: 2026-01-08
