The Impact You Will Have

The primary function of this position is to provide leadership, facilitation, analysis, design and execution in a cloud database architecture. Your primary focus will be on team management, work planning, and ensuring stakeholder needs are met. Expectations are to address business requirements, selecting the right cloud solutions that provides scalability, security, performance and reliability. Will work closely with the cloud engineering, architecture, software engineering, analytics and product teams to design database applications, operational models and solutions including interfaces, data transfer mechanisms and partitions, optimizations to enable efficient access, and automated operations on cloud native databases.

Your Responsibilities

  • Work collaboratively with all levels of business stakeholders to design, implement and test data solutions from disparate sources. Serve as the primary point of contact between data engineering teams and product owners.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of concepts, best practices and functions to implement a modern data platform in an enterprise environment. Translate business requirements into technical designs. Ensure scalability and high availability, fault tolerance, and elasticity within data ecosystem.
  • Facilitate architectural alignment and direction across teams. Understand data engineering concepts and tools well enough to comprehend what teams are building, ask informed questions, and identify potential risks or blockers.
  • Demonstrate thought leadership and interpersonal skills. Passionate about leading, guiding and mentoring others. Collaborate with business partners to drive adoption and optimization of the analytics platform. Manage and develop data engineering teams, fostering a collaborative and innovative culture.
  • Defines data standards, policies and procedures for the organization. Identify and deliver infrastructure and process improvements based on analytics, metrics and skills. Champion automation mindset across the organization-both technical (CI/CD, infrastructure-as-code, automated testing, AI-assisted development tools) and process-based (standardizing and automating how data is sent, received, validated, and moved through systems to reduce manual effort and improve reliability).
  • Lead and mentor engineers and technical leads. Perform design reviews of solutions to ensure the design aligns and supports the specified architecture. Oversee sprint planning, backlog grooming, and resource allocation. Facilitate regular reviews and retrospectives to improve processes and outcomes. Track team performance and delivery timelines, using metrics to drive accountability.
  • Ability to establish and maintain a high level of trust, confidence and intellectual integrity with both Business and IT partners. Lead by example, influence and shape outlook and attitudes to facilitate change from a tactical to a strategic oriented enterprise.

Required Skills and Experience

  • 5+ years of related professional experience. All relevant experience including work, education, transferable skills, and military experience will be considered.
  • 2+ years in a management, team lead, or organizational leadership role.
  • Demonstrated success managing and developing technical teams to deliver complex projects.
  • Proven ability to translate business needs into team objectives and actionable plans.
  • Experience and knowledge of a modern data platform and cloud-based solutions.
  • Familiarity with AWS, Google, or Azure technologies.
  • Experience leading cloud database design, integration, data ingestion efforts.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience facilitating sprint planning, backlog management, and team retrospectives.
  • Ability to lead initiatives and people toward common goals.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, presentation, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to quickly learn new technologies, adapt to new environments, and function within a team.
  • High school diploma (or equivalency) and legal authorization to work in the U.S.

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Information Systems, Healthcare Informatics, or related field.
  • Experience in healthcare data operations, claims processing, or regulatory compliance (CMS, HEDIS, EDI).
  • Project Management experience with agile and project management methodologies (Scrum and/or Kanban) a plus.
  • Technical literacy with data engineering tools and concepts (SQL, python, AI, cloud platforms like AWS or Azure, ETL/ELT processes, data pipelines).
  • Experience standardizing engineering practices across teams (coding standards, documentation, code review processes).

Compensation and Benefits:

Pay Range: $117,800.00 - $159,000.00 - $200,200.00 Annual

Pay is based on several factors which vary based on position, including skills, ability, and knowledge the selected individual is bringing to the specific job.

Our hybrid approach is designed to balance flexibility with meaningful in-person connection and collaboration. We come together in the office two days each week - most teams designate at least one anchor day to ensure team interaction. These in-person moments foster relationships, creativity, and alignment. The rest of the week you are empowered to work remote.
